There are so many reasons Katie Porter is the only single mother in Congress, and each reason that got her there was because she fought limits imposed on women, especially single mothers. I know from experience how difficult it is to be a single mother and I have to say that it is no surprise that Katie Porter is brilliant because she had to be extraordinary to push through all the barriers she had to overcome to get there.

You would think, by now, those called to testify would prepare for Katie Porter. They all think she's stupid. She teaches university-level economics. Elizabeth Warren was her college professor. She knows how the game is played, and she knows all the tricks. There's a reason why Business Ethics is an optional course at Business Schools. Up until recently, Ethics wasn't even offered. You cannot maximize profits in a business model that calls for shared benefits and fairness within the market. It is in your boss's best interests to work you 24/7 and pay you nothing for your effort. Your paycheck isn't because you've earned it, it's because folks like Porter made worker compensation a law your boss has to follow. Slaves didn't get paid. They only got enough food, clothing, shelter, and medical care to keep them from dying.
