I was always a hard worker and, as a young woman I thought that I could outwork anyone. But, constant 12/14 hr days really wear you down. I did it for over a year, no days off and no down time between jobs, but eventually it starts to wear you down. I hope that you ladies have a plan on how to continue this as the years take their toll. Love to watch y'all work so well in tandem

I have thought the same and hope they get some down times possibly during cooler times. I have noticed that they work in some extremely hot states that may be able to shear no matter the season. I'm also not sure how much they get paid - by hour? Per animal? Plus gas/travel? I watched 1 day, 8 stops, 309 miles. With their truck they used $78.00 just in gas. So they have to be able to charge a decent amount to make enough money. I hope they're also making good money with KZbin and whichever other group they're working with. And have back-up plans for after they're in their 40's. I remember feeling OK in my 40's but that by the latter part, parts of my body wrangling students for 25 years was getting old. These girls seem smart though. I bet they've got plans!

​@alicecain4851 I was surprised at how much traveling they do! That alone can be exhausting, top it off with such physical work I'm not sure how they do it! I also hadn't realized how many states they rotate through. I guess I thought shearers would mainly work in whatever area they lived, like a large ranching community. Hadn't occurred to me they would travel so far. It has to be very seasonal work too, or what I call feast or famine work. I wonder what they do in the lean months? Some other kind of work perhaps?

I love this channel! You are so knowledgeable about every animal that you shear. My friend has alpacas but she keeps them unshorn for our Utah Winters and she loans them out to local Boy scout troops that take them on their 50 mile hikes in the high Uintah mountains. the scouts carry their own packs and the alpacas carry the troops food.

I get mine at the local farm fair. It’s all cleaned and ready to go. I’ve bought some beautiful browns and blacks. I bought some one year that was the colour of pure cinnamon. Check online and see if there are any local alpaca farms. Sometimes they sell fleece. I’ve also bought some online from Scotland. Good luck! 🌷

@@catsberry4858 I have no idea. That’s way more than I buy : ) I usually buy a fairly loose bag for about $18 to $22. The bags are about 10” X 14”. You can only fill them so much because you need room to tie the bag closed. This is for wool/fleece that is not dyed. Dyed fleece is a lot more costly. I was going to post a picture of one of the bags of fleece but it won’t let me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I clipped show horses for years and I would recommend nylon for the hair repellant factor, but seeing how the animals you do- it all comes off in one piece, you don't have it getting stuck in your clothes making you itch like crazy. It is nice seeing someone that also has a calming effect on the animals and teaching them that it's a good process and not something to be feared. Like you guys, I often got a number of referrals because the animals learned to enjoy it and it was easier on everyone. Keep up the great work!

Great show. Y'all make it look so easy. I'm so jealous, I can't stand it! Lol I love the hill country with all my heart. I visit from Houston at least twice a year. I've spent many hours walking the Frio and collecting trash. More needs to be done to mitigate how much pollution gets tossed into that beautiful place. My grandmother used to frequent Neil's in Concan. My great-grandmother used to "boot scoot" at Garner. My partner and I keep tossing around the idea of moving out to the hill country and starting a rescue farm. I'm still on the fence and about a million short. Love your videos! For the llama who didn't like his front legs getting sheared, I wonder if the trick we use for horses would work. When we need to work on a leg, we have someone lift their opposite leg up and hold it while we work on the other. They can't stand on two legs so by holding one up, it forces them to keep the other down. Now mind you, they definitely can do a quick hop on three legs, but for the most part it works quite well.

You girls are doing a great job!! I only cut angoras (rabbits) but every 90 days, that means four times per year. Their skin is super sensitive and frail, easy to nick. I haven’t found a shear that actually works for them due to the fiber being so soft that it gives away, the only thing I’m able to use are special scissors that are extremely sharp and bent into a slight U-shape. I built my own spindles of wood and spin manually on my spindles. It’s a great hobby!! The fiber from angoras are 9 times warmer than sheep wool and the finest natural fiber in the world!! ♥️ Love your work!!

As per usual thanks to KZbin sending me down the random rabbit hole by recommending this great video from your channel I have now proudly subscribed as your content for almost 20 minutes not only kept me intrigued and entertained but provided knowledge that I had no clue of. Which for me these past few years is what I truly enjoy as part of the entertainment is to have information, education and knowledge he talk to me about topics and subjects I never trained in along with a entertaining video. I’m happy to meet both of you and your career as well as clearly a passion you’ve chosen to do. I look forward to watching many more videos of your daily life adventures being able to do what you love as well as the awesome way you have it set up to you being able to travel to many states to do your work and be working to fund your travels. If only I had followed a path like yours for a passion of mine 20 years ago I definitely would still be doing it to this day and be way happier, not to mention I probably wouldn’t be going through my five year plus episode of being out of remission from my autoimmune disease which Is what has generated my weekly rabbit hole adventures down KZbin when there isn’t anything on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon prime, Apple TV, and U-verse. I do look forward to watching your older videos to give you the view time and the engagement for alike on those as well. I do like that not only are you showing your days and what’s going on with that you are narrating what’s going on to explain exactly what’s happened and what is currently happening at that time providing context especially for people like myself I know absolutely nothing about the profession of sharing animals with you not only provide great visual examples but commentary to explain with it that make it enjoyable to watch. I also see you know very well that there is such a simplistic satisfaction when you take an animal and share them to be clean the peaceful of your tool as well as the visual clearing is mesmerizing too many watchers. I would love to know more about the psychology of that as a minor in psych in college and I’ve always been fascinated with the way the mind works as I did dive into the psych educational side to the huge rise in boom of ASMR in therapy treatments and the bigger society with individuals creating ASMR with things in life and using social media platforms To create and get their content out there that wasn’t just by a doctor or therapist that was purely medical treatment instead of natural things in life that are way more pleasant.

I don't know how y'all do that out in the Texas heat!!! Y'all are strong women!! I showed horses all across the country. I hated clipping 1 horse in the heat LOL! I was a full time pet groomer for 20yrs b4 I had to retire cuz I had to have 4 brain surgeries. I love your videos ❤️!!
