Unaccustomed tool, new place and a new breed of sheep to shear, but Katie handles it like the boss she always does. Such a beautiful animal, both pre and post shearing, especially the intricate horn texture. I hope you had Darian with you on the trip overseas, that you were able to experience more than "just barns" when you're there and that you had a pleasant visit to Scotland! Greetings from Norway! 🇳🇴

@@celia6564 Hello, thank you for your kind words! I know of your home state, but I have to admit I had to search for it to confirm my information on it. When I still was in elementary school, a long time ago, whenever our PE teacher subbed for a sick teacher, he had us writing essays about Elvis Presley and his works or listening to his music, depending on the subject he was subbing for. Can't say I remember much about those essays, but PE and Elvis is weirdly intertwined for me still.

"She handles it like the boss she does." You DO realize that that sentence isn't even a sentence, do not you? It says nothing. I THINK you meant, "like the boss she Is" or "like A boss she does." Oh. Now foolish I feel. Norsk, thou art. Engelsk is your second tongue (or A second tongue). Tu Inglés is más mejor que mi Noruego. Discúlpame.

Now that I know how sheep are shorn, I'm like "who could have ever thought otherwise"! A sheep HAS to be calm and comfortable enough because otherwise you'd have to fight for taking their wool off, and nobody, nobody wants that fight. It's EASIER to make it ok with the animal, because it makes the process just, well, possible at all! And it's a pleasure to watch you shear a sheep. Your kind words make it even better. It almost feels like this content is good for health: seeing a calm content sheep being taken care of feels calming.

I love the black socks, knee patches, ears and sweet black face of that sheep. She was so patient up until the last when she was getting impatient to be done. She did a cute little wiggle 😅 then settled back down. I could almost hear her sigh.😊

Valais don't have the finest of fleece; the fiber is what's often called 'carpet-grade' (medium-coarse), but they make a LOT of it. And their digestion is much more efficient than most breeds, so they can make all that muscle and fleece on less food than most other sheep. If they had finer wool in addition to quantity, docile temperament and meat, they'd be the perfect sheep for basically everything.
