Wonderful inspiration!!!!! Proof that the only thing that holds us back is ourselves!!!! ✊🏽

Well I don't know - if she wants to be a commercial pilot (fly jet airliners), she probably will be refused, as well as anyone who has vision deficiency etc. So in this case I would wonder whether it's ourselves or someone/something else that is holding us back.

@HDaviator There is logic to the concern. I have flown many types of commercial aircraft as well as Design/Develop/service. Under normal conditions I would not hesitate to fly with her. Under extreme weather conditions with turbulence I have no reservations that she would have extreme difficulty controlling her physical position in the aircraft resulting in the control of the aircraft being compromised. Outside of that, she is one very special and extremely talented human being. Very impressive.

How did you get the FAA Medical Certificate ? What about the rudder pedal? If it is connected to the yoke, it would be difficult- if not impossible - to take off or land in crosswind and to recover from spin !
@Puffmac15 жыл бұрын
The important bit they left out was that it's an ERCO Ercoupe which has no rudder pedals. The yoke is linked to the rudder and ailerons allowing coordinated flight with just the yoke.
@Rossco844 жыл бұрын

I had to look up the plane which she was flying as I couldn't believe it either. She flys an ERCO Ercoupe which uses a a two-control system linked the rudder and aileron systems. This type of plane does NOT have rudder peddles (first that I heard for me!) and is considered a beginners plane that has automatic yaw correction. Jessica is one amazing girl
@mitgolden7615 жыл бұрын

Is there a modification to the rudder? Typically you taxi with your feet....on the rudder pedals. And the yolk for the wings. Any ideas?

The Ercoupe is the only plane built without rudder pedals. The rudder is thus interconnected with the ailerons through the yoke. Once on the ground, it drives like a car.

That's great - I'm happy to see this and wish her the best. I was curious how she operated the rudder pedals - I read the comments and found out that she flies an airplane that has the rudder pedals linked to the ailerons. So now I wonder how the lack of direct rudder control would affect cross-wind landings, but apparently people are flying it in cross-wind without too much trouble.
@Mike-012343 жыл бұрын
The Ercoupe is an amazing aircraft it's the first production airplane to have Tricycle gear. I believe the Ercoupe can land in higher cross winds then a piper, or Cessna not sure if that is really true.
