Personally being from the Caribbean I can attest to how confusing bajans can be. I think even when she exaggerates her accent, it's still understandable. Americans (most) only are accustomed to one thing and they're so close minded they won't even try to understand anything out of their cultural range. if you use your ears efficiently, it's understandable. That's pretty much everyone from the English speaking Caribbean. Yeah, we could speak general American if we wanted, but what's the point? If we can understand you, you can surely understand us. I have a co-worker who is always making fun of my Caribbean accent and making a big deal out of it. Yet, they understand a Ukrainian and Russian with their thick ass accents just fine. Its just fine. I'm not speaking patois either, its just that I have an accent, which makes me unique.
