FYI, when the phone is NOT charging, the message comes up on the PCM. When I put the phone there with the cover on, that message comes up. Without cover, it charges. So, when it's charging, no message comes up as it is already doing what it's meant to do!

The wireless charging has a notification as an option but it's not turned on by default. It can let you know when it's charging or when there is an issue with charging.

You can easily see if your phone is charging, it shows in Apple CarPlay. Again that Taycan rambling of the interior that is special in regards to the Macan, that is just your personal opinion and I hardly see any difference with a colleagues Taycan, and anyway if you really looking for an upscale luxury interior, Porsche is not the brand, it’s good, but it cannot stand a chance on Range Rover or Aston Martin for that matter, heck even a good specked BMW or Mercedes trounces Porsche in that arena easily …

You have a point, but remember that Porsche is more of a luxury sports car brand. Mercedes while they build fast cars as well, their bread and butter is luxury. Porsche crosses into that territory with their SUVs and sedans, but luxury is not their strong suit.

This is what always turns me away from Porsche. Things that are standard on a Toyota Aygo are many thousand euros on an already 70k+ car. Im fine with all the customisation being at cost, even the air suspension (though should be standard at this price) but things like adaptive cruise control being an option is utterly ridiculous.

Nice and informative test. It also confirms the way too high consumption by the Zeekr. The car is never ever able to come even close to what Zeekr is promising. I hardly get 375km in winter months eg with the car, in summer around 435km. I can fully understand ur choices and conclusions. Certainly about the Zeekr after driving the exact same car for over a year here. It is a shame the software is still wayyyy too poor with this car. It makes it annoying in daily use. Also some other aspects are not (yet) fully 100% ok like the breaking pedal feeling, or regen like eg the Porsche BMW or the new A6 eg. Lets see if Zeekr can come up with a better software version, the current version is more or less the first acceptabel version as far as as I am concerned. V1.2.1b, before it were only alpha versions and this one is lets say the third beta version orso. Next version would probably be the real production version. Thanks for the test and ur insights.

I really like the new Macan too and was close to buying it after a test drive. I still ended up buying a Polestar 3 DM LE instead because for the same money (96k€) I could not spec the Macan as good. Also the complete lack of OPD, an obsolescent screen size and a lot higher maintenance and financing costs were a downside. And I still don't understand why Porsche EV´s are only able to use their full horsepower and torque from standstill (Launch Control enabled) but not like in everyday overtakings. It feels like a cheat that while most of their competitors have full power available all the time Porshe's advertised performance numbers are not. Nevertheless I do like the design of the car, the interior quality, driving dynamics and so many other things that maybe someday I'll be able to own one...

Your comment about the interior not being "nice or as high-quality" as the Taycan is perplexing, seeing as they are near identical in terms of design and materials used. And I've heard the infotainment is significantly better than the Taycan. I've experienced it briefly and really enjoy the enhanced Android Auto integration. Regarding Range mode, it was likely removed because few people use it (I don't). I drive almost exclusively in Normal or Individual. Range giving ~3-5 more miles of distance is not worth it.

You can be as perplexed as you want, but it's just fact. And they are not near identical in neither design or materials, they are similar, but different in many key parts. The Taycan has a lot more stitched leather, all in an interior that is much more of a "cockpit". "And I've heard the infotainment is significantly better than the Taycan" Not sure where you heard this, but its not. It has a slightly different layout, but other than that it is almost the same to the updated one you'll find in the Taycan, but with missing functions like "max kW" in the driver display. Taycan also has Android Auto, so there is not difference there. I have spent siginficant amounts of time in both the Taycan, pre and post facelift as well as in the new Macan.

I wouldn't call your opinion fact. Maybe the vehicle you were in was not speced with the full leather. Both vehicles have a curved primary display, a central screen and an optional passenger display. My visual observation is they are more alike than different. My physical interaction with both vehicles has determined the materials used for each are of the same high quality. And agreed, the sports car has a better drivers cockpit like feel than the SUV. The infotainment center may look similar but is completely rebuilt on Android. Its Android Auto integration displays things like trip navigation in the central display map, unlike the Taycan.

But with that being said your experience is by your own admission "briefly" and my experience is owning a Tyacan for 35 month and 47tkm. I also probably have another two months and close to 10tkm in other Taycans as well as about a month and 10tkm in the NEW Macan. I have driven them all, Taycan, Taycan 4S, Taycan Turbo, Cross Tursimo 4, CT Turbo S, Macan, Macan 4, Macan 4S, Macan Turbo. I am pretty sure I one of the car reviewers on YT with the most experience in the Taycan and new Macan. So I may not be an expert, but I do have a little more experience than you don't I? More alike than different does not = near identical. Yes they are similar, I have never claimed anything else than this. But the Taycan feels more special and has nice materials. That is just fact. It may not be by much, but there is a difference, and to a Taycan owner the difference is noticeable. And yes I am comparing like for like, the cars I am comparing both have upgraded Leather, I even specify this in the video above. But you don't have to believe me, though I have made several videos on this channel you can see it with your own eyes. Yes it is Android based, but that does not have anything do to with Android Automotive which is a phone "mirroring" function that works the same in every car, just like with Apple Car Play. This is the only major difference to the Linux base Taycan PCM. Here the Macan will show Google or Apple Maps from your phone. But from what I understand, preconditioning of the battery does not work when using this. Porsche PCM either it runs on Linux or Android there is no Google Maps or and Google Services.

I just wanted to mention the back seat space for this car. The Macan is a car for people with small children or no kids at all! It’s a unisex SUV, but it’s driven by mostly women. When people need more space with bigger children, etc. they upgrade to the Cayenne.

The 4s comes with basically nothing. My BMW M4 with 2 cheap packs comes with more tech than 20k would give me on a Macan. My interior is better. My tech is better. It’s faster it’s better looking and it has lost barely any value in 3 years. Only reason I’m considering changing is because of tax incentives which are to hard to ignore. I want the macan but Porsche make it impossible as usual. Funny how a Tesla has zero maintenance costs but Porsche EV has service and maintenance costs higher than my current M4 petrol.

What abnormal "service and maintenance" costs does the Porsche EV have over Tesla? This is news to me, being a Model 3 owner since 2018 and Taycan owner since 2020.

The only service I recall with my Taycan is the standard items that wear out: tires, wiper blades, cabin filter. The Model 3 was no different. The parts might be more expensive, if that is what you're referring to. That's expected for a higher class of vehicle. It's been in the shop for other items. Those were all under warranty (infotainment issues) or insurance (broken windshield).
