As much as Iove the Geurdos in this game I really hated doing Nahboris. My sand seal had two modes, so fast she can't keep up or so slow we fall behind and it was so annoying even ditching the seal didn't work.

The gerudo are a tribe of people that value their traditions deeply. They practically bask in their authenticity for their entire lives, so letting a man (also a stranger that hadn't proven his worth), of all people, hold and wear such a valuable heirloom to the Gerudo would have been an insult to the gerudo ancestors. Only after Link has proven himself to the Gerudo people and Naboris will he be allowed to *borrow* the helmet. I think she allowed it because she wanted to help defeat Ganon and bring the 100 year calamity to an end. I think out of all of the side-characters you speak of Sidon is the most unnecessary. Mipha gives you armour which literally lets you scale waterfalls..

Technically you didn’t withstand the lightning because you were in a rag doll type mode so it made you invincible until you got up. You were still prone to fall and roll damage. You also lost a quarter of a heart when it hit you.

Naboris' lightning works through lightning proof. The ONLY thing that allows you to not get hit is the helm. (and hitstun abuse) The lightning is also 100% accurate meaning if you don't have the helm or use the bombs, it is not possible, unless you manage to snipe all the legs extremely quickly and considering you said you "ran circles around it" it means you took some time which would mean the lightning would have attacked and hit you. Sorry dude, not possible.

The Turtle King that or I used the phrase “to run circles around (insert object/person)” in its verb form: “To be much faster or more effective then someone or something”. So I may have been under the assumption that I was protected from Naboris’s lightning but, because I sniped Naboris’s feet with *efficiency* before it could fry me like a fly in a bug-zapper. My observation was that I was safe from the lightning and for the sake of individual experiences, one can say you can be safe from lightning damage but, if you were caught by the cutscene after you were “locked on” by Naboris, you would take damage that the game does not register as lightning damage.

For all that BOTW had some great ideas it wasn't fully ready for all the shenanigans that a dedicated player base would accomplish. Granted, nothing could. But funny as hell dialogue for doing the divine beasts without help would be hysterical. Imagine a Ninja playthrough. Do gain access to the Divine Beasts, you have to disable/break something. For Medoh, you destroy some floating cannons and then it's forcefield gets disabled. Sure. Whereas Naboris gets electricity from the ground, so destroying the feet makes sense. See the difference?

The one you get from that chest I don't believe is an armor item and instead is a quest item, but even if it is an armor item I don't think the game allows you to wear it until you get Urbosa's power. So in reality yeah Riju's useful in actually getting Naboris powered down. She might not do anything to help you damage Naboris, but neither did Sidon or Teba, they just carry you at points technically while you do all the damage.

Yeah, honestly, I didn't like this segment of the game because it didn't feel like I had an actual in game reason to want to sneak into Gerudo Town. They didn't want Link there and he had no reason to assume that he couldn't beat Naboris on his own (granted if Gerudo Town was my third or fourth stop instead of my second, that impression may have changed a bit). But as far as I could tell, in universe, there was no reason for Link to believe that getting inside Gerudo Town would gain him anything in his attempts to stop Naboris. So, my headcanon for this segment of the game is that Link makes several attempts to stop Naboris on his own, can't seem to get anything to work, and eventually is struck by Naboris' lightning and put near death. He gets away, but collapses near Gerudo Town, and the Gerudo - not being TOTAL jerks - bring him inside as an exception to nurse him back to health. When Link wakes up, he's in a prison cell with Riju at the door where she apologizes for the poor accommodations, but explains this was the best compromise they could make to bring him inside the town. From there, Link explains who he is and what he's here for, is tasked with finding the thunder helm, and continue the game as normal from there.
