People forget, or just weren't around then, that this is what 90's television was like, anything go's. Going Live, The Big Breakfast, I even remember Oliver Reed, and many others, getting pissed quite often on live TV, It was great! ITV and Channel 4 were the only channels still broadcasting after midnight and would often show one off experimental shows and strange surreal student animations late at night just to fill the time in, fucking good days, man!

I think one of the things people may be forgetting here is that Bottom was hugely popular with kids at the time and as Rik and Ade say, it's all cartoon humour. The reason this interview didn't work well was not necessarily down to Sarah but probably partly because Rik and Ade were being themselves and didn't appear on the show as their characters Richie and Eddie - which would possibly have worked better and certainly got the kids in the studio more excited.
