Okay, first of all I'm an American so while that doesn't count for shit, and rightfully so, I do have to say that the vast majority of Americans have never even seen the Jonathan Woss (heh-heh) talk show, or even know who he is. Having said this, however, I've noticed that *a lot* of Brits tend to give him shit (or as you Brits would say "take the piss out of him") for being terrible at his job and I can't figure out why. I watch a lot of the UK comedy panel shows and because of this, I actually have seen and know who everyone present on this show are (and I like them all!) and for me, Jonathan Ross is just as funny as anyone else and many, many, times, he's the funniest person on this show! I'm guessing he has a background in comedy whether it be stand-up. or sketch shows, or whatever, but for some reason his talk show has made everyone not like him for some reason and I'd really like to know why?
@kimtan06273 жыл бұрын
@@gustafsone exactly!! I'm wondering too
@congbadutne74763 жыл бұрын
@@gustafsone late late late reply lol but I think it’s because he’s definitely a ‘celebrity’ as much as he is a comedian, maybe more. In the sense that he has always had a big tabloid presence and is as much as a presenter as he is an actual comedian. Stand up isn’t really his thing, but he’s always done talk shows. He’s also had some scandals in the past, and he’s a bit goofy (lovingly) in his presentation, he’s always dressed and acted pretty flamboyantly. I think this, paired with him being pretty funny and taking the insults well, makes him a sort of comedy windmill for other British comedians. His presence alone generates easy jokes at his expense. All lighthearted of course!
@HRHDMKYT Жыл бұрын
@@congbadutne7476I am curious about the Jonathan Ross “scandals”, but I recently looked him up when I found out one of his daughters was a bridesmaid in Lena Dunham’s wedding [during Covid lockdown time]. Jonathan has been married to the same woman since 1998 or so, and both of them, as well as their three grown children all seem to be quite flamboyant. I love knowing that about him - it seemed kind of wholesome in an artsy way. (Then again, I did read about the one terrible scandal in which during his talk show he and Russell Brand left a series of explicit voicemails on another actor’s phone about that actor’s adult granddaughter. I was surprised that Jonathan would ever get involved with something crude like that, but knowing what a scumbag Russell Brand is, I’m sure it was mostly Brand’s doing. Still, it affected that actor deeply, and those explicit voicemails estranged that actor and his wife from their granddaughter for years afterwards. So that’s definitely less than wholesome of Jonathan Ross).
