Riley is handling this so well. It’s devastating to lose a parent but she’s focusing on the wonderful life they had rather than the loss. Good for her.

I’m only speaking for myself, but I guess the book was sad to me because Elvis and Lisa Marie missed so much of the life they could have shared together, dying so young. Also some of us followed Elvis from his first record to his life through the good times and bad, including Lisa’s life after her dad died, then the loss of Ben. I agree there were some bright spots in the book.

I am a woman in her 60’s, and I remember when Lisa Marie was born, where I was when I heard of the passing of Elvis, and when I heard the news about Lisa Marie’s passing. I grew up listening to Elvis because my parents loved his music. I think the book was a book about loss, but at the root of the book was love. The love of the South from the Presley family, and a profound sense of love from Lisa Marie. We all have faults, and struggles, but she loved her children. The sad part to me was, Lisa Marie was greatly loved, but didn’t think she was Thank you, Riley, for finishing the book for your mom. I know she would be so proud of you.

I just got the book today, read about 60 pages right after work. And I really think the reason it's sad is because even in the beginning where you truly understand how important Lisa's father was to her and she to her father there is still that cloud of rain over it all because you know she loses him. For some reason I was holding back tears when Lisa writes about her dad coming to the schools parent-teacher meeting and how she still remembers what it felt like to walk with him holding his hand.

Riley is a strong young lady. Lisa did a wonderful job raising her. If you succeed in raising good children, nothing else matters. However, it breaks my heart to know what Lisa Marie had to endure as a child. Her mother did not want her and that is so evident. What mother would let her boyfriend remain in her house and in her bed knowing he was molesting their child. Who???? Furthermore, she blames Lisa for it. Queen Priscilla has fooled a lot of people for a lot of years, but not me. She never fooled me one minute. She has always been about the money. Lisa was her connection to the money. Priscilla should not even hold her head up. Shame on her for what she did to the life of that child. My hat is off to Riley for loving her mother enough to hide nothing. She put it all out there just like Lisa wanted. Rest now, sweet Lisa.
