What started me doing my own car service was paying Opel €400s for a full service and a month later seeing an air filter like this(Checked air filter when i bought the car a week earlier). God only knows what else they did not do(they simply said it was a mistake.. yeah!!!) Its a serious problem in the industry that garages are not reliable.. and if you find one and a great mechanic like this chap, treasure them, great job jimmy

Yet I've had guys on owners forums lose their mind when I say I don't trust main dealers for servicing. One guy went off on one saying "Oh you think you know better than people trained to work on these cars." I mean I don't remember where I said I know better. I mean I just said I prefer to find a good independant who will take pride in thier work since their business depends on good customer care.

My last car before I went to view it the dealer told me it would have a oil change before I could pick it up so I went along and viewed the car and did purchase it but what I did do was pick up a stone and put a scratch on the oil filter a week later when I picked the car up yep you guessed it the filter with the scratch was still on the car ...

Doesn't even take that long either, I buy all bosch filters. Diesel, oil, air, cabin plus oil then only cost like £70 and only takes a hour at the most, saves so much money. Also every 3 oil changes I have enough oil left over from the previous 3 to do a flush aswell, cars on 103k doesn't burn oil and gets done evey 6.5k.

Same here. I got fed up paying a couple of hundred quid for an oil and filter change, just so I could get a dealer stamp in the maintenance book. Plus I too have had my car returned with work not done (eg air filter not replaced). If you have the time to educate yourself, do your own maintenance. I actually prefer working on my car to doing my “day job” now.

I really enjoy the content and the detail of these videos and respect how you stay on top of the tech changes to deliver a really good service to your customers - shame so many other mechanics can't be bothered do this and give the trade a bad name

Another item to check from personal experience and just found by chance when I took the MAP sensor out while doing a smoke test to find that the hole that the sensor goes into was blocked, although it looks like the hole in the inlet manifold that the MAP sensor pushes into is about 10mm in diameter, in fact it isn’t as there’s a smaller hole further down and to one side of the port which was blocked with the oily sooty crap that accumulate’s within the inlet, I found a thin long cable tie is perfect for pushing through this hole to clear it. Thanks to you Jimmy I would of never attempted working on these things as they are a absolute minefield, give me an old Pinto some points, plugs & a carburettor then I’m more comfortable 😂

That manometer looks like it has two ports. You could probably hook up a second hose and measure (and correlate) differential pressure across the DPF. I understand measuring pressure in front of the DPF is probably close enough but it won't give you the same value as the diff pressure sensor is seeing

Hi all ..Jimmy you`ve been fantastic helping me make informed decisions over the last week or so , whilst I`ve been struggling to get a garage to look at my 2018 transit 2.0 eco-blue 35000 miles . nobody wants to know and so much bullshit . think I`ve learnt and know a little bit more than the garages after watching jimmy o`rileys channel . . I`ve been told I need and quoted for a new DPF .. NEW VAPOURISOR needed £2500 £3000 .. but it turns out,, please correct me if I`m wrong on my model there isn't a vaporiser . not fuel fed anyway ? glow plugs i guess please advise ME .. watched so many of your videos. cleaning and replacing vaporisers .. every garage told me its off with DPF and a new vapouriser .. so many companies telling me to delete the adblue "£459 please" . then delete your DPF. will I get an mot next year?? .. who knows ... ANYWAY fingers crossed I have the same issue as described in this video . . replaced the air filter , PRESSURE SENSOR AND UNBLOCKED PRESSURE PIPE .. the guy who did a DPF clean £400 !! must have just thrown some fluid on the ground at the back of the van because how did he get the cleaning fluid into pressure pipe to clean the DPF then he . Ran A REGEN !!deleted the codes !! DIDNT TEST DRIVE . he must have known after a mile or 2 it would go into limp mode or fault code would come back took my £400 pounds😒😒 !!but after me driving the van 2 miles the ad blue malfuntion countdown to doomsday engine light came on and a bit further down the road the van started a drive to clean regen again .. which was successful and has cleared for now ,.. but I'm still left with the AdBlue MALFUNCTION light stuck on .. hopefully getting the ford software update to get the light off .. the van is running sweet but counting down .. no engine lights on now .. the question is Jimmy .. did the software update sort this issue with this van in your video .. I've also got the wrong or untrue value on the pressure sensor reading on the launch scanner .. IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A VIDEO OF MY VAN PLEASE CONTACT😁😁👍👍 .. I GUESS NOW THERES GOING TO BE A FEW 2018 VAN S WITH THE SAME ISSUES .. CHEERS JIMMY ALL THE BEST MATE

Quick question on Citroen C3 Picasso 1.6HDi. After an off-car DPF clean (including an acid wash for ash) I reinstalled. Differential pressure nice and low. Did a reset for new DPF..... ....ash 0, soot zero etc as expected. No fault codes. When I start the car though, the ECU immediately flags that an active regeneration is required. Any ideas why? Many thanks in advance.

It is. About 70 percent full on the diagnostic tool, and also checked under the car and there's plenty left. Not sure about calibration though. Never been any fault codes on it. Car has only done 50k miles. Before the clean the active regen interval averaged 180km. Now it's been reset to 500km after saying a new DPF has been fitted. Your videos have been a great help!

Scanner danner a college lecturer and mechanic for many decades would be shocked at how you ignore electrical testing. How hard is it to put a meter in the wires and verify they work. Just had an insignia with egr fault. Checked the wires and two were 5v. The vehicle had a new egr fitted and the guy like you never checked the wiring. An egr needs 12v on one line and 5v on the Pintel position sensor and grounded with PWM. So I saw that because I checked the wiring. He never because he never checked like you. I have hardly ever seen you check. I like your videos but you need to step up the quality else people gonna call you out for it as I am.

This is a small sensor that I have 4 of in the van. Much easier and quicker to just plug one in and test live data before wasting time. In the right situation I'd check the wiring but this is a 10 second part swap
@technologyreviews3620
@technologyreviews3620 Жыл бұрын
Mate in the right situation? Dont palm me off with that one. Just admit it. You very rarely check and just swap sensors over. Try watching a few scannerdanner video's pal and you'll see the reason for it. I am a mobile mechanic. You check because you never know what you find. Hardly a moment to check. A meter with two probe tips. not hard at all.@@ORileysAutos

@@grahamlittlefair8107 Cant you read a comment and get what was said right in your brain? 😊 I said someone fitted an egr and it never worked. I went to diagnose the car and found that the electronics were at fault and not the egr. Anyway muppet why are you trying to defend O’reilly. Is he your boy. How SWEET. Sure he doesn’t need your two bit crappy replies put up. Fact is all competent mechanics should always check the electrical side over swapping parts. You are clearly a guy that knows not alot yourself. O’reilly is a parts changer and it aint the right way to be. A meter takes no time at all.
