I really don't understand why people keep saying this. Matt MADE them go to this fucking dragon. He gave them no alternative to get iceflex. And at this point they have two "quests". Steal a ring for refined residuum, or make iceflex for the sword. They have a guest player playing a Druid, they will obviously not go for the stealthy-sneaky stuff instead of the big epic fight since that suits both the class AND the character of the guest much better. Like, what else are they supposed to be doing, go back to the gentleman to get a fetch quest or some shit? Fighting this dragon was basically the only organic thing they were able to do. So if Matt was trying to disuade them from killing the dragon that would make him look kinda dumb in my opinion since, again, he gave them nothing else to do with the guest

Ádám Baróthi yeah, sometimes he’ll gently reign them back in if they’re going wild with loosely interpreting the rules but it seems like he’s only “hard with the rules” if he’s settling confusion. Like this example, it seemed to me like Sam wasn’t sure what to do and Matt just made the call for him

Without Matt's but it's still a legit use of sponsorship. How many other entertainment outlets do it that way? It's now time for Tim mcfacey to give us the "softa butt wipa" weather report. Then no more about the wipes. And ladies and gentlemen there's the buzzer bringing this half to a close, which means it time for the "itchy bye bye athlete's foot powder" halftime show. The show has nothing to do with foot powder. A mention and content constitutes a sponsorship. And at this stage I'm pretty sure dnd beyond are getting what they paid for. Half the comment buzz is about his bit every week.

man i am constantly blown away by taliesin and his deep understanding for not only his characters but also the world matt creates around them. you couldn't *write* the meaningful stuff he seems to come up with on the fly. that scene with fjord before the break was pure genius
@clairetellkamp62532 жыл бұрын
I think it's less an understanding of Exandria specifically, and more that Taliesin is up there with Matt for experience playing DnD. A lot of what he says is very meaningful, but ultimately nonspecific fluff that can be interpreted in many different ways. Because the player doesn't have the life experience of the character, he is instead using his improv skills to come up with grand speeches that ultimately don't say much more than "You're playing a game of DnD. You're fate is quite literally you're own, because you can ask the dungeon master to give you new powers and do what it takes to earn them." (Taliesin said in an episode of Talks Machina that this is literally what he's been telling Fjord about "destiny." That he's in a TTRPG game and can do what he wants, but he makes it sound fancy and in-universe.)
