Very glad I got dragged back into HOI. The new systems clutter the game a lot, especially for multiplayer, but a few like the arms market and logistical rework I feel really make the game a lot more engaging and fun. As for Trial of Allegiance itself, honestly it just seems overall to be silly. Pick a minor nation, and by the end of the tree you'll be the emperor of some ludicrious made up nation and you'll have enough buffs that all of your soldiers are superhuman.

Nukes also wipe out all aircraft in any airbase they hit, so another good usage. They guarantee any tile they're used on will fall though, if you ever get to the late game mass AI deployments they're very useful if not sometimes essential to push initially. But yeah - HOi4 doesn't model the near complete elimination of industry and people strategic use would entail. Also the Atoms for peace program was wild and did do a few actual things. The Soviet one was also.. mixed. I'm pretty sure one on one side of the divide started a natural gas fire that lasted decades.

Love that you guys managed to roughly recreate the circumstances of the War of the Triple Alliance A war, where Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil all went to war with Uruguay Where so many Paraguayans died that the Pope briefly sanctioned Polygamy to restore their male population (Depending on very varied estimates between 7-70% of their entire population) And where Paraguay lost the conventional war before holding out using unconventional tactics for another year The Iron Cage of Paraguay is a fortress built of so many people And on a completely unrelated note, Paraguay is one of the few countries in south America where an indigenous language (Guaraní) is predominantly spoken (Though most people actually speak Jopara (lit. "Mixture"), which has much more Spanish influence than the "pure form" Guaraní taught in schools)

As I understand it, the idea of using nukes to soften Japan’s beachheads was just a proposal made by a few generals who didn’t quite understand that nukes weren’t just really big bombs, it was never in the official plans, nor would the US have had the time to construct enough nukes to achieve such a feat. The ones they dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the only two they had at the time, and producing more would have taken awhile.

A tip in dealing with the Dutch fortress in Guyana (or whatever that place's name was). What I did when I encountered that problem is send several dozen divisions to sit around it. Build new supply dumps and rail until the units I sent stop starving to death, and send my ships to convoy raid the coast. And then wait for a few months before attacking. Oh and also cas and air. You need those too. In a year or two, you should be able to destroy them. 26:05 The Paraguayans remembered what happened last time.

And right now Poland has the most extensive focus tree, while they were capitulated in a month by two superpowers. The danes surrendered within a day and they also got a focus tree. And now you got irrelevant south american minors, like Uruguay and Paraguay getting focus trees. Belgium at least is a sizeable industrial and military power compared to these and should received it's own update in La Résistance, but they didn't. Why? Because that would mean hiring another focus tree designer for it (not developer, focus tree designers don't program, they design) to look up a few wikipedia articles and shit something together in a month before release.
