Cheers to Savage Game Design and Bohemia for giving me Early Access to S.O.G. Prairie Fire and letting us record early.
This CDLC is an absolute blast, some of the best content for ArmA 3 in a long time. I decided to show off Mike Force first to show some variety in the kit. Two campaign videos are coming, of missions 1-3 and missions 4-6.
What unit/clan is this?
This is my unit, the Cadian XXth. Casual milsim, roleplay and all those weird ops that you never get to play in your normal milsim group. It can be found in the discord: / discord

What is this mod?
This is S.O.G. Prairie Fire, a Creator DLC for ArmA 3 by Savage Game Design. It's a Vietnam-era DLC.
Are you SovietWomble?
I wish. Video definitely has inspiration from the likes of Soviet and Max0r, but I try to strike a nice line for telling a story, humorous edits and actual gameplay. I try to put out a video every three days, hence why not every single video will be a Fustercluck or not as long or detailed as I'd like. Time constraints are a problem.

I read a memoir written by a VC soldier, some of the stories are crazy. The training of a lot of VC Soldiers was minimal, and they would end up doing ridiculous things like pulling the pin on their grenades when they would get in a fight with their fellow soldiers, but not realizing that they were timed - or strapping their mortars on trees, which would give them a lot of leverage, but also had the nasty side effect of the tree exploding due of the backfire which would cause wood shrapnel to spray in all directions, usually killing the soldier handling the mortar in the process...

From terrible mortar fire and malfunctions all the way to air strikes mistaking the coordinates and dropping their payload on their own men. The Vietnam War was a true hellhole to all involved

A good Vietnam story I remember was an artillery fire base receiving a fire mission from a platoon they were getting the coordinations when all of a sudden another fire mission from a separate platoon was coming in the fire bases was working on both. Before long all the talking for it was done and they were now about to fire when they realised something odd. When calling in a fire mission you give both the coordinates for your position and the enemy position. Well the coordinates for the first platoon enemy position was the friendly coordinates for the second fire mission. The fire base realised the two platoons were calling in artillery on each other and quickly notified both before they started shooting each other.

You sound exactly like the NCO in charge of my section. And with the Vietnam era equipment, it’s almost like basic, which I did in 83. All our instructors had been in Vietnam. Of course, nobody was shooting at us for real and we only had one or two M16s per platoon (the SLR was still a thing in those days) but the countryside looks very similar to Queensland, esp when we went north for an exercise. Anyway, I’m sure you don’t care but the memories came flooding back unexpectedly when I started this vid. I was only a chocko but as my studies weren’t very taxing, I volunteered for secondments fairly often. My heart was with the regs, even though my regiment was an OTC one :D.
