I use Monos for my checked luggage and Rimowa + Blu341 cover for my carry-on. I can’t handle the ‘well-traveled’ look-my OCD won’t let me!

For weight requirement and extra space, I'd go with the Essential in a Matte Blue, or the Gloss Green, since you make a great case for it. The Original in the Arctic color is so gorgeous though, and I'd be sad if they discontinued it and I didn't get it. There's a Rimowa store on the next block over from my apartment that I walk by on my way to campus every day, and it's very tempting. And, you have a gorgeous collection and great insights - thanks for sharing! Also, I heard more expensive suitcases are targeted for theft more overall, and for some airlines/tickets with stricter size requirements, a standard Cabin size will get checked if it's overpacked, increasing the risk for theft by airline workers - it's happened to me a handful of times. So it's a risk to factor in when using something fancy even if it's a carry-on. You're so right about the extra cost being about style, and, I'd add, for a lot of customers, also clout. But I love when my everyday things are aesthetic and special, including travel accessories. I love Cadence's travel containers for example. (They're a start-up from Brooklyn that make super aesthetic and magnetic travel containers with customizable magnetic labels). I wonder if you would try them and review them too? it definitely was an investment but my Rimowa carry on has been the best suitcase that I have ever owned. The look is iconic and the wheels and rest of the build quality is spot on.

The trunk is amazing, I travel with a toddler now and the extra space in trunk is perfect! Although I always need to weigh it before the airport because it’s easier to go over the weight limit with it due to the larger size.

their aluminium sliver carry ons are definitely worth it. but never buy their aluminum check ins. after few uses the luggage has so many dents and scratches they look like you got them from a garbage dump. just an eye sore. bothered me so much ended up selling them and replaced them with monos hybrid trunk and check ins. so much better and nicer looking after serveral uses. as for their non aluminum lines just waste of money. way overpriced and plain looking. not any better then other brands like away, july etc which are 1/4 the price of the nonaluminum rimowas.

I wish they would release more colors in the hybrid line. I much prefer it over the essential line. It’s the only thing stopping me from buying a check in luggage. The lavender is my favorite! I only bought it in the cabin size.

Rimowa creates crazy beautiful colors! I have the carry on in the mango orange and idk, Rimowa colors just spark so much joy. Honestly I like the marks on the bags. It sort of creates a story and a memory of a foreign location; it just shows you’re well traveled ! I wish they created the seasonal colors for the smaller size trunk. Have you had any problems with the trunk plus being too big?

LVMH owns Rimowa that’s why their prices are significantly increasing too just like their other brands. Great review on those luggages. 🩶 New friend here.
