Meggigdo is actually a skill that uses little energy as he's just using water droplets to magnify the sun. In the light novel it describes it well as u literally can't see it because it's a laser.

The anime makes the deaths quick and painless. in the light novel, Rimuru intentionally avoided outright killing some soldiers - piercing vital organs and severing limbs in order for the victims to bleed out.

The wounds are immediately cautarized because of the light rays so they can't bleed out. It was for -enjoying their screams- causing more panic to further break the command chain and avoid mass evacuation I think.

Suspending the water would be easy enough, but to accurately shape the water into several lens so that the reflect/refract in a way that each lens aims at an enemy at once would require some serious, intense concentration. It was so good the blood shed bit the manga I really liked how we got to see the view of one of the soldiers that weren't evil being killed and calling Rimuru god himself and the light novel just even more brutal turning your enemy into flesh monsters and making them eat each other .

It was not so much that the monsters were holding back, but the two magic barriers were weakening them severely. The antimagic barrier cut off the ability to cast magic, and the holy field barrier locked their skills and drained their strength.

cut content: When Shogo broke Geld's shield, Geld just brought out another one, and that was what Shogo called "dirty" in the LN, and well, whether that's dirty or not might be up for debate, but it's probably the biggest fuck you you can get in that situation, besides getting absolutely owned after killing your teammate for a level up :D the blond guy at the end who talked with Razen(sorry, can't remember his name) is an otherworlder as well, and his skill allows him to attain skills from comrades who fall in front of him, but only a limited amount, hence they wanted him to get the abilities of the other otherworlders-that's what they were talking about, when they said it was a shame they couldn't pass those abilities down to him

I didn’t really get that when I read the manga since water drop like objects came down to the ground levels for the soldiers to question if they were water droplets. So I assumed those drops moved really quickly and pierced though the soldiers like bullets.

Oh yes, after the build up of the previous 3 episodes this was soo good. there were 2 reasons for why they lost in the town so soundly while dominating like this now. 1. The barrier Benimaru and co destroyed this episode. While it is a weaker version of what Hinata used against Rimuru in the beginning, it is still a high grade spell designed to weaken and neutralize monsters. 2. The handicap with not killing Humans. We seen how powerful these guys can be during the fight with the orcs, so having to restrain their power to not accidently kill humans especially in town were heavy shackles for them to fight. Also the Manga and Novel especially Megiddo is much more brutal as Rimuru deliberately targets legs and non immediately lethal spots, so they have time to scream and writhe in pain, for the psychological effect, the attacks also come in waves and is not constant, so you can imagine the fear and suffering of the soldiers.. But as satisfying as that was I honestly prefer this version of Megiddo, this feels much more fitting to be called wrath of god. No cruelty, no rage just and unstoppable, unforgiving and unescapable reaping of life. With the name Megiddo being a biblical reference -the hebrew name for the place in greek called Armageddon - this felt like you would imagine the Angel of Death going through Egypt in the old testament.

Geld and all of the other Orc eat to gain power, but they were technically forced because of the Starved curse, where they even eat their kind. But Geld despises that Shogo kills his own “companion” just for his selfish benefit. He was just about to mercifully kill him, but now after what Shogo did to Kirara, he just took advantage of Shogo’s new regeneration skill. (8:40) Literally beating him close to death but letting him regenerate to continue suffering from the continuous beatings.

Fun fact, the Geld we know is just as powerful as the Geld Rimuru fought, just without the Starved skill. He's basically a sane Orc Lord. I believe he actually may have even been as powerful as the Orc Disaster. His Chaos Eater also does light spiritual damage causing even the target's soul to slowly corrode. Another thing to keep in mind is that Gabil despite how he acts is still an incredibly powerful monster at a B rank alone. With his Vortex Spear he's likely more of a conservative A- to B+. In this word B ranked adventurers are treated almost like heroes, and A rank are incredibly rare so that gives you an idea of just how powerful Gabil and his team is. Also fun fact, assuming a human head can remain conscious even 10 seconds after death (a cursory search claims some brain waves can be detected even after 30 minutes, dunno if it's true so I'm going with a very conservative 10 seconds before the lack of fresh blood to the brain causes black out) then that guy that had his head cut off experienced dying for 50 minutes. If the human brain can remain conscious even longer then his suffering increases rapidly. Meggido is actually a special type of magic known as "physics magic" which uses actual physics to cause damage. It uses Spirit Magic which isn't affected by anti-magic barrier, and Great Sage uses it's incredible processing power to calculate how to convert the beams of sunlight condensed and refracted by the sun; the sun really is a deadly laser. He was actually inspired to create the spell by Hinata's Disintegration spell. Razen's line "Next to my Reincarnation, Possession is mere child's play" should be "next to my *master's* Reincarnation, Possessions is mere child's play". I believe the anime translation was incorrect since the latter version appeared in the LN.

I think the translators either did an oopsie or deliberately avoided the master line. Personally, I feel like it was an oopsie, since both LN and WN have the master line. And from what I remember, after this point LN and WN start to diverge from one another. For example, the WalpurgisNacht was resolved way faster in one case while the manga, which adapts the other one, drags it out more.

I would HIGHLY recommend you check out Chapter 65.5 of the manga, it won't spoil anything but it will give you a different perspective of the battle, especially in regards to one of the scenes in the episode. Which I'm sad that they did not include in the anime.

you're missing the weakening barriers from before ... there where 3 barriers in total: - the prison field (the pyramid formed barrier) - hinders monsters from fleeing and weakens them a little bit - the anti magic field from myulan - weakens all magic, therefore also magical lifeforms as monsters - the barrier hinata casted around rimuru - disturbing the connection rimuru has to the monsters named by him, therefore weaken them somewhat on emotional/moral level the soldiers and the three otherworlders only knew about there prison field, that's why they unerestimated them at the end as they didn't know to what extend they where weakened before by the other two barriers

A bit of context for the Megiddo move Rimuru used; Rimuru already cast an anti-magic barrier on the whole camp so that nothing could intervene. Megiddo itself isn't a spell, but rather water droplet manipulation that concentrates natural sunlight to extreme precision (like an ultra magnifying loop), literally turning the sunlight into beams of laser which are then targeted at people in the camp. It uses very little of his energy since it isn't a magicule spell, and its effectiveness isn't relying on non-physical elements that would be hindered or weakened by the anti-magic barrier. Basically, Rimuru is doing a scaled up equivalent of frying ants with a magnifier.

Just a little something to give some perspective to Kyoya, the guy that Hakuro decapitated Just 20 seconds 300 times slowed is equivalent to 1h and 40 minutes Some studies have shown brain activities so much as 30 minutes after the heart has stopped beating That means good old Kyoya may have "lived" up to 150 hours, aka about 6 full days, as a head, with what was probably a terrible pain and nothing to do beside reflecting on what happened. Hakuro kept going faster so that he'd focus his "Eye" more and more so that a 'second' was extended some 400+ times. He literally spent a mini eternity as a severed head, specifically so he could "reflect" on his actions and such that lead to that moment. Just Hakuro being low-key an absolute savage. As for the other guy killing his 'friend', his Unique Skill, Berserker, makes him stronger by killing humans, and killing his 'friend' for power managed to get him the Survivor skill. As for Survivor not really mattering...well, yeah, kinda. I mean, just because you heal from the attack, doesn't change the fact that you're getting attacked, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't even come with a 'Nullify Pain' skill like what Rimuru got when reincarnating back in Season 1. They took down the human's barrier, cause that was hurting them by existing, but on the other hand, the existence of that barrier prevented the souls of their fallen friends from dissipating. Then, Shuna and the other one (sorry, I'm bad with names, so I forget her's at the moment) cast a new barrier; no negative effects, while still keeping the souls contained. Speaking of 'savage', that ending scene when Shogo got killed; in the other media, the other two had their whole conversation about 'using' the three Otherworlders _before_ killing Shogo, so he hears all of that and starts screaming about how that's not how it goes, how the strong kill the weak and such and such. Razen's response? "You're right, it is the strong that trample over the weak. However, you seem to have mistaken something: *you* are among the weak who will be trampled upon." Ded.

I really liked Geld here. He's all plodding and slow and tanking damage and then this sudden completely unexpected burst of speed. Also seeing how powerful Gobta and Rigurd actually are. Even the Gabiru fanclub was allowed to show off, showing they can do more than chanting and dancing. ^^ Why they lost in the first place was mainly because they were inside a barrier that sapped their very life-force and prevented them from using any magic... on top of the order not to hurt Humans. But now they are outside the barrier and able to bring their full power to bear. To me it looks like Megiddo isn't using much power, because it's creating lenses to concentrate sunlight into essentially lasers and he's only controlling the lenses and the small droplets he uses to redirect the lasers. It probably takes a whole lot of concentration, but probably little power compared to the black flames. Which makes it potentially hard to use, but incredibly efficient. If it barely uses magic power, it would also explain why it works so perfectly inside an anti-magic barrier.

many have pointed these facts, but they are dispersed so here is a summary of Meggido - The spell was made just recently for Rimuru to end Farmas army, and it is only really usable by Rimuru, the calculations needed for its execution are imposible to be done by preatty much anyone else unless they have something like Great Sage - Its brutal agains fodder but not that useful against people over a certain point of strength, still a relatibly high point but against things like Charibdys or Hinata and those above is useless, infact, I think most fighting personel in Tempest can survive it - the spell is actually a Spirit Magic that has extreamly low magic comsumpion creating lenses of water to focus the sun rays into concetrated lasers, then dropplets of water to redirect this lasers to their target, so it cant be stopped by anti magic barriers since its a phisical event in itself (that all is extreamly important in Tensura and permeates a LOT of things) note, correct me if it wrong, but I remember another benefit of Spirit Magic being that it can be used in Anti Magic barrier due to its nature, hence why Rimuru choose it for this killer combo, since he still needed to control the dropplets of water inside the anti magic barrier added note to Rimuru, this I didnt know until recently, the reason Great Sage and Predator/Gluttony is as effective as it is is thanks to Rimuru machinating a way to cincurvent a limitation inherent to both skills, basically he found and made a unique conection between the 2 skills that compensated for the others lack and thus both became way more OP than originally intended, basically its limitation are that Great Sage can obtain info an anything as long as you are able to comprehend it first, and also things like tough acceletation an parallel processing, but the main problem is what is needed to make Great Sage activate in recognition of this activation requirement, a limit originally set on it, but Predator had the ability to assimilate and comprehend basically anything, but this actually takes a lot of time and one mental effort in doing so, so, I guess you can see what he did here, by linking Predators ability to imput and analize whats devoured into Great Sage info acces with its tough acceleration, this can be done imediatly, not only that, but by having it done in the parallel process it never takes any direct atention or concentration of Rimuru to do so, a killer combo actually

While Megiddo is certainly a strong spell and one of the most satisfying ones in the entire show, it does come with a lot of limitations, due to mainly beeing built around the idea of efficiency. While the beams of light it emits are powerfull, (and not technically magical in nature therefore not hindered by magical barriers) they are stopped by mildy thick physical barriers. Given enough time, they could probably pierce a sheet of metal, but if you actually holed yourself up behind castle walls, they'd unlikely be able to get to you fast enough. Which brings us to the next problem, Megiddo's biggest strength is "surprise" (which is why Rimuru rarely uses it) It's a brilliant spell, able to achieve much power with little magical energy put into, but that actually makes it easy to counter for someone who has figured out how the spell works. A few examples given in the light novel would be: Casting a heatspell to evaporate the moisture in the air Megiddo would need to form the lenses, putting up a smoke or dustscreen to block the light or simply putting up your own reflective water spell to disrupt the beams. Not to mention that many of the more powerfull people in this world have some form of "natural element resistance" meaning that while rimuru can make short work of most armies, this spell would do nothing more than mildly annoy an opponent at demonlord or saint level.

In the manga, we got a few panels about one of the soldiers and how he is an atheist. Then he was one of the last soldiers killed and looked up at Rimaru, his last thought being, "I wish I could've told my kids that god was surprisingly childlike". Rimaru got an atheist to think he was god.

The reason the Falmuth soldiers were able to slaughter so many and destroy so much wasn't only due to Rimuru's command not to kill humans. That would only have limited the monsters offensively. Under normal circumstances, the defenses and skills of the people of Rimuru would have prevented anything significantly bad from happening. But it was not normal circumstances. Due to the barriers around the city, the monsters only had limited access to their magicules, making them far weaker than normal. So with a bound offense and weakened defense, the city of Rimuru was sacked.

Also don't forget, the first Time they were being attacked there was a barrier which basically nullifyed a lot of their skills and powers, I believe If this wouldn't have been the case, they still would have won, even without going all out. And I was so happy when Rimuru just killed them, they totally deserved it, I don't feel any guilt.

Kyoya's ability is double edge sword. His mind is 300× faster, so everything appears 300x slower in his sense.
