Important to note: Poloxkin naturally spawn with toxic waster factions, so if you go on raids you can capture and convert them. They are much easier to get than the other two

Naturally I haven't seen them. If you want to fix it there is a mod called something like Xenotype Spawn Control that let's you modify what Xenos come in with other factions. Let's you add some rare/untagged types in so they appear more frequently.

@@MysteriousFawx I forgot I had added that to my modlist, having a slight issue with it though, I wanted to have it so that I could potentially see every Zeno type as a possible starting pawn, but I'm only seeing baseliners or custom zenotypes, non of the others want to show up, despite baseliners ending up with only a 21 % spawn rate after I disabled all my custom zenos.

Potential starting pawns are usually left to the player, I tried to use it for the same thing originally. It's normally either set by scenario rules or left to you to decide what races you want. If all else fails... Dicerolls!

I recruited a polluxkin through a quest in my current colony, she also was already part of my custom ideoligion which was nice, I'm running a pirat3 ideoligion and having a second farmer and medic was just what I needed, also I made her our resident Mechanitor.

A very fun and useful race to have around the colony! After having all three types, I’d have to say they all have their uses for my various playthroughs. Any colony reliant on growing will THRIVE with these ladies! Seeing the quest pop up makes me jump up with joy. Another great video, looking forward to the next video!

For those who use the Guaranlen to Anima Nexus conversion like me, there is an add-on that changes the Guaranlenkin into a more fitting Dryadkin complete with reskin and rewording for them and the Companion Dryads

There are a few fixes for reskins on all sides. If you use the Anima theme from VE you can reskin the Gau tree back to the original form so it still fits with the kin too. Wasn't sure if I was going to cover it in this video or not, but decided on going into detail down the line with the Anima theme mod instead.

I really appreciate just how informative these videos are, even when just covering what you would assume to be basic behavior. Say, are you going to do a video on the Saurids, or are you maybe waiting on one of the upcoming race mods like Lycanthrope or Insector? The stuff they tease in the roadmaps are exciting to say the least.

Something about parents of Phytokin that isn't the mother will be put down as "step father" so you'd have to edit their relationship tab if you want them to be the actual Dad

Yeah, it's what can cause issues with mixed genes, they definitely take after their mothers and end up usually with very few of the fathers genes, if any.

I've got a good year or so to keep focusing on getting 2 videos a week out, so at least 100 more videos to make before I need to decide if video creation is a good use of my time, haha. Fingers crossed I hit the numbers needed by then across KZbin and Twitch to make it viable to keep going.

I was playing regular Rimworld, like a noob, figured I'd learn it first before getting the DLC, I saw Biotech and was obsessed so I got it, found this mod, I only had Biotech when I did and wanted the others not the wastepacks one, I actually bought the other two DLCS just to have access to them. I must say, for a while, I struggled with the difference between a Royalty mechanic vs an Ideology mechanic, but I have all three so girls so 😂

I'd spent a good 200 hours in pure vanilla before getting dlc, then another 50 hours in just royalty and ideology by themselves! Fair play for not totally drowning by turning everything on at the same time! Especially with mods running too!

Ocularkin are added by an alpha mod, I think alpha genes. Idk if they require the phytokin mod, but they are a type of phytokin that leans into the idea of being a corrupted phytokin. They can turn trees in areas into ocular trees and summon these cool lil scorpion guys that can be drafted and have a ranged attack.

oh, i was wondering where they came from, i decided to do a run with all plant people today and noticed the ocularkin in the race list, they've been a bit of an mvp with their scorpion, absolutely trouncing any early-game enemies and mechs sent my way, even with their stinger getting smashed rather quickly

another neat feature is that alpha genes seems to be integrated with this mod, if i remember correctly. as having both alpha genes and the phytokin creates the "Ocularkin" xenotype, a phytokin based around the alpha mod's enigmatic ocular animals/biome/dimension(?)s trees. the also get a bonus to pruning speed because of alpha meme's ability to create ocular versions of that orange tree i cant spell the name of

Encountered a strange (bug? feature? event?) with that mod. Once you deny the quest "Ambushed Phytokin", the phytokin itself counts as your colonist and eventually there will be a funeral opportunity popup

Weird, haven't encountered it myself as even if I don't want the colonist around I still accept them and ship em off to an outpost. Guessing the game is loading the pawn in when it generates the quest and already assigning them to your colony, so they just sit in a void of nothing if you say 'nah' and eventually just starve?

It's coming, looking at my current work flow and lineup I'd say maybe late Jan, early Feb? Depends what other releases happen and how quickly I can get through some of the larger faction mods. They're likely to be 2-3x the length of the current videos I'm putting out going purely by the scripts I've got prepared... It'll be a busy new year!

I'm still waiting for Ancients; boy do I have thoughts on that. As for these, I'm of mixed opinions about them. I have... ethical issues about any "single gender" xenotype. Especially after the Highmate mod. I don't know, maybe I'm just being too sensitive. Maybe I should judge each mod individually, but it just feels a little uncomfortable to me. "Here's an all-female race who are all beautiful and have gorgeous hair. While you're at it, download our other mod for your carnal pleasures!" It feels off, you know? Like the forbidden mod is being run in addition to this... Their severely hampered combat skills are... okay. For the Guaranlinkin, who have a workaround. For the other two, do not solo start as one of them, or hope that your man in black is a badass. Given the extreme amount of focus that Rimworld has on combat, it's a severe hamper to the overall gameplay. You literally cannot afford to have a Phytokin-only colony unless a good number are Guaranlinkin. And even then, you're only getting one more member. Kinda hard to have babies without any guys there. However, I will give them flavor and style points. They're a neat addition to a colony. In my opinion, not as neat as the next comment that I'll be making, but as you pointed out, the random addition can make for some great adjustments to a tribal run. And, as you rightfully pointed out again, the genes are really fun to add to a custom race. Thank you for the video! I'm really enjoying this series. I know that I complain a lot, but it's out of a place of fondness for the VFE series.

A lot of the single gender or forced trait/stat related to gender mods I take issue with, but I think this might be required due to the implementation of Saplingbirth. I tried to use it on a custom xenotype before and it seems... Confused at times if it lands on a male colonist. Polux and Anima definitely play into a trap heavy start if they're all you have early game, fortunately they also fit really well with using a lot of wooden spikes, letting nature protect them from any threats.
