So glad to see how the brushed finish is done. It is my favorite. And the hammered look too. Perfection.

I'm not sure how he did it either, but I personally use a hammer drill around the Stone to spread the gold over the stone, holding it in place.

Honest question, would creating the hammered finish with a wheel on the fordom cause less deformation of the ring? I'd be afraid that actually hammering would
@angelwhispers20603 жыл бұрын
Depends on how hard you hit it and with what. work hardening is actually good for gold if it's going to be worn as jewelry.

I’m confused - why cast this? I would think making up the ring from scratch - even if you’re starting with melting gold and creating an ingot, pressing into a strip, forming into a ring, soldering closed, and then holes drilled in for rubies would be easier than the time it takes to print off the ring in wax/resin, casting the ring in investment, burning out the wax, casting in gold, and clean-up the sprue remains. I do a bit of jewelry making as a hobby, and have done both methods. To me casting makes more sense with complicated designs, where you would need to do a lot of soldering of little pieces to get the ring you want. Making a plain gold band is so simple - a band can be created from scratch in less than an hour - that it seems like you are wasting time with casting (all the time waiting for investment to cure, then burnout of 12 hours in kiln). Anyone have any idea why he would choose this method??
