1 thing I noticed is that you could drill the hole in the wall and pass the wire directly through the hole in the mounting bracket so that the wiring is hidden behind the camera.
@thetexan4192 Жыл бұрын
This specific mount purposefully dumps the wire out the bottom. For you to do what you are wanting to do, you'd need to drill through and modify the mount itself. The reason they are routing the wire this way is (1) end user versatility/modularity/capability and (2) its an added strain relief for the wiring.

@@thetexan4192 incorrect… I have the same set up as this video. I bought a Ring floodlight cam pro (wired) and the separate mount with the 20 ft cord. I was able to drill a single hole on my exterior wall and place the mount directly over the hole and pass the wire through (after detaching the wire by removing the two screws and the plastic piece holding the wire affixed as in this video). I didn’t have to drill any additional holes in the mount. As you see in the video (starting at 0:44) when he removes the wire, when I went to mount it, I just fed the wire through the hole in the wall and then back through the hole in the mounting bracket and reattached it.

@@mikezerker6925 thanks for this. I was wondering why the wire couldn't be fed through the mount itself

I think we all noticed that. Looks a lot more cleaner
@falco14rome Жыл бұрын
I think he did this because he didn’t want to drill through the wood beam which was centered. So he drilled a hole off to the side and ran the wire up. That’s what I think anyway.

Thanks. I wish Home Depot would have told me I needed this mounting pack to convert to a plug in. Another trip back to the orange place. Any case you served me a lot of work. Big thanks.

If you're trying to install the Ring Floodlight cam (model # 2210C-XYZ) with a 5" base and you need a junction box for it, you'll discover that round junction boxes with 5" diameters are very difficult to find. The large majority of them are 4". I finally found one that'll fit. It's the Grainger Surface mount wiring box, 5", White (model # 14G265). But, bear in mind that Grainger has really odd hours. They close at 4 pm on weekdays, and they are closed all day Sat and Sun.

Did you consider drilling the hole behind the mounting plate so that the wire isn't exposed?
@jcortes1242 ай бұрын
It requires a different bracket this is so the wire can simply be tucked under. When you by the plug in package it comes with both options.

At the end, he mentioned matching the holes on the camera with the screws in the brackets. However, I don’t see any holes in the camera. Can anyone clarify which holes on the camera he is referring to? Is this an old version of a camera ?

Thanks for showing us how you install. I wanted to buy the ring flood camera plus plug in. Would I have to buy the bracket kit separately? Do the flood cameras not come with the actual plug with bracket? I was not able to find to much info on the details section before purchasing. And do you notice any difference between a plug in security device vs wired? I don't have the wired option in the area of the outside I would like to place it on.
@ApartmentMaintenancePro Жыл бұрын
You don’t have to get this bracket but it makes it easier and more cost effective if you are using a plug. If the plug is near by you can by a plug extension which would be cheaper than this bracket and plug

You're good at explaining but I disagree with your cable being on show at the exterior front of the property. A better method is to run the cable directly behind the camera. No one will be able to cut said wire or mess with your power supply.

Every ring installing makes a messy installation
@davidreynolds30822 ай бұрын
The wire shouldn't be showing! That's why there's a large hole in the mounting ring for it to enter through from behind! You didn't need to drill a hole to the side of the mount, that's just ugly and unnecessary.

You could've fed the cable through the mount making the install centered and flush instead it looks like 💩 I hope this is your property and you weren't hired because I'd be irritated seeing that cable coming from the bottom if it didn't have to.
