The color night vision only works with light from external sources like a patio light, the IR LEDs will not illuminate the colors on your shirt at night so everything looked b&w except for the lights behind you which must be yellowish on the temperature scale

Good video Steve, thanks. Question: I don't have existing backdoor wires and using a battery "Ring" doorbell is out of the question since I live in a northern state and in the winter time I'm told the batteries last 3 to 5 days. I'm looing to drill a small hole and use an 24v. adapter that I can plug into a receptacle right next to the back door(inside). When I was looking a couple years ago they sold the adapter w/20" of wire with the doorbells but can't find them anymore.......so the question is does the "Ring Wired Doorbell" run off a 24v? The spec sheets that I saw says yes but after reading reviews on Amazon IDK what to think, lol! Thanks in advance.

With how far technology has come, the video and audio quality should be far greater than this. 4K is on every phone right now and has been for many years, so 4K should have been the resolution so that you have a better and more clearer picture

Hey Steve, I'm trying to find out if you're having issues with Arlo cameras no longer making motion announcements through Amazon devices, particularly the fire tv cube. Seems they no longer support any cameras other than ring and abode. This is just another instance of amazon taking away skills that we distinctly purchased their products for. Used to be able to change channels through alexa voice commands then they took away the cox skill completely. Didn't know how else to contact you as I don't do KZbin unless I'm watching your videos. Appreciate you getting back with me. Also checked with Eufy skill and it seems they don't announce motion anymore either. Thanks for any info you can give me, Ed.

Can't help but think that the fact the wired one doesn't work with an existing chime is a deliberate design choice to make more money. Surely it is easy for it to work with existing equipment.
@Dudelikescake Жыл бұрын
Actually it’s a bit complicated. Computers require a stable power supply. The doorbell designs from 100 years ago are low voltage ac and basically short closed for communication, which could crash the camera. The more expensive wired doorbell from ring has a communication module that goes separately wired into the existing chime. You’re supposed to use an Alexa speaker as a chime so you can seamlessly answer. That’s why the chime is an afterthought.

So, to understand, when I installed the wired version of the doorbell, does the original chime stop working? What does the small ring "box" which you connect into the existing chime box do? Is this what replaces the existing chime? It's not well explained. Thanks
@dmenese10 ай бұрын
Ring wired: you lose your existing chime. Ring Pro 2 (and Ring Doorbell Plus which is similar) you can use your existing chime. But check your voltage because Ring Pro 2 and Ring Doorbell Plus require at least 16v (AC) and sometimes even more, while Ring Doorbell Wired works with just 10v (AC). I just purchased Ring Doorbell Wired because I measured 14v in my existing chime -and I don't want to re-wire the whole thing. Also Ring Doorbell Wired+Chime costs 70, versus 149 for Ring Doorbell Plus and more than 200 for Ring Pro 2. In the end it's just a doorbell.

So I understand the “chime” is also a bell and a wireless hotspot.

@@c.patricksadowski9959The standard chime is just a chime. The Chime Pro is also a repeater but only for Ring devices and I read it has poor performance.

^ Can the Pro2 technically be wifi jammed, even if it's a wired? I just watched a lot of videos now to worry me about wifi connections. I mean can't power lines be cut if bad guys really wanted to get in as well? I heard of Poe's/NVr's but they are going to be expensive to install by professionals. But, if they are more secure i'll go for it. I know in general the point of alarms is too alert you if you are home in emergency or if you are away. Nothing will stop a person 100%

I rather buy multiple ring stick up cams for the $260 for the doorbell thing lol. I don’t understand the ring doorbell camera deal. Can’t move it and the video angles are useless at times. I seen what neighbors send on the ring app and those doorbell cameras don’t cut it most of the time. Just keep your regular doorbell and put multiple stick up cams in your porch. 260 dollars for that one doorbell camera is outrageous
@SteveDOES2 жыл бұрын
$250 used to be normal for a high end camera, but there are SO many new, cheaper, competitors out there that i would like to see Ring drop their price. Although, Ring has brand recognition. I walk through my neighborhood and 80% of the houses have a Ring video doorbell.

You cannot press the bell ( my case pro 2) multiple times. Beats the whole purpose of being a bell. You have to wait 30 seconds before pressing the bell gives sound again. Delivery guy presses bell. I don't hear it. He presses twice and third time but the bell doesn't ring. So delivery guy goes away but you have it all nice on video though. A ring that doesn't ring lol.
