Ringling Brother Barnum and Bailey Circus Train Bound for Hershey, PA

May 21, 2012: On its way to Hershey, PA, the RBBB Blue Unit passes two former Reading Stations at Pottstown and Wernersville before arriving and letting off the horses and elephants. Then, the train is seen again departing for its layover in Harrisburg. Unfortunately, this is the second year in a row weather did not cooperate, but nevertheless, the elephant walk continued despite the rain. I figured it was about time I uploaded some RBBB content since I archived last year's event. Enjoy!

The container portion of the train was parked at Derry Road in Hershey for unloading. Because of the rain, and tighter security this year, I decided not to film that event. If you want to see this operation, refer to my video from 2010:

I really enjoyed this video. You know how exciting it was to see the train come in to your city and be able to watch the elephants and other animals get off the train? I miss days like this when every thing was simple; watching the train come in with great excitement.😊

This video was so well done it's unreal. The videographer gave me a 3-D look into Ringling life. He gave me every possible angle I could imagine, almost as if I were there at the unloading. Superb video work!

Great video friend! Here also was the train of Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey in Mexico, arrived in Mexico City on May 20 (2012) and went on Monday 04 June (before yesterday), the first tow FTVM 8836 (SW1504) and then two KCSM ES44AC to tow the circus train Monterrey, NL (today began work there), and within a week return to the United States. He brought 59 wagons (counting cars and coachs).Greetings from Mexico! :)

Great quality high definition video. About 8 years ago I had to wait at least 20 minutes for the Baily train to cross the road in Pontiac Michigan. I could not believe how many rail cars they had and I just gave up counting them all. !!!

It's amazing to me that the circus is still in business and moving all around the country by rail. It must cost a fortune to move this train and maintain all the rolling stock. With with railroads not being as extensive in the country as they once were, I wonder how they get to all the locations that they need to? I'm glad they're still doing it by rail! Truly amazing!

I'm thrilled that you were able to show us the circus train, even the elephant walk. One place i would have been was at valley forge, but i must work mondays. Any form of excuse wouldn't have my manager pleased. It's an abuse of my responsibility in such a case of obsessing about a train.

Those doorways are too small and low for the elephants - they hit and scrape their backs on the top a they go out. Amazing how peaceful they can be in a strange place and with all that train noise.
