We're having a lot of fun with this arrangement. Everyone gets a solo! It's a bit tricky for us but we'll get there eventually.

This arrangement would induce fainting in most groups - is oxygen optional?? - takes the mastery of Ringmasters to make it sound that good unmiked, and without any sound engineering. Fabulous!

OMG!!! You have no long how much I have wanted to see something like this, not only to see how the greatness comes to be, but also for some cool tricks that my quartet and I could use!

Can’t wait to hear the real recording of this. Please do more Sondheim! There’s not enough barbershop groups doing Sondheim, and you guys would sound amazing on any of his songs. Suggestions: Children will listen Johanna Sunday in the park with George Finishing the hat

Love this! Amazing detail work and attention to the specific impact moments. It really shows in an arrangement with such a rhythmically driven premise. Excited to hear the finished product on this. Well done!

I’ve been telling my bass not to sing with his hands in his pockets for years and now Jakob is out here killing like that and walking around... What I’m supposed to do with this information?

@@Azortharion It's about posture in any kind of performance related activity really. If you want to be at your best you will have an active body and the hands in pockets make that slightly harder. Jakob is a beast and does really well anyway. I do it too from time to time but I don't think I should. Your body can trick your mind, the mind will affect the voice in both bad and good ways.

@@EmanuelRoll “the mind will affect the voice in good or bad ways” I’ve actually been studying up this book called the singing athlete that’s all about a brain based approach to training. But yeah it’s goes deep into training all the senses to be more accurate so your brain can have a better prediction of the environment which ultimately leads to feeling safer which dramatically improves the quality of the voice. It’s all connected 👁🧠😂

Can you guys please explain how, if at all, you all communicate during a song. For exeample, if someone is holding a long note, how does the rest of the group know it's time to move on? I often see use of hands in front and behind. It's hard to tell if a subtle tap on the back is used to communicate.
@Ringmasters
@Ringmasters 3 жыл бұрын
We usually use the whole body language to communicate that. The arms and hands are extensions of our expression. If we sing big it will usually look big too. A lot of the communication is also done with the voices. Swells, turning of diphthongs and vibrato carry information. The tap behind the back exists but is rare. It's usually a panic pat by the poster-boy and it means "Please sing faster, I'm dying". The stance with one hand behind and one in front doesn't really have a function but looks showy and can trick your mind to go into final gear of beast mode. /e

This song is from the musical “Anyone Can Whiste” not “Side by Side” which is just a musical revue of Sondheim songs.
