What a priviledge to see Ringo legend record drums for the last Beatle song. It gives me sort of a feeling. Master piece it turned out to be.

@Mozart12203 ай бұрын
@@AbeSgtwilsonn Lennon didn't reject it, he just never finished it. Sometimes "demos" lay around awhile and in 1977 Lennon was not yet ready to make a "proper" record. Harrison rejected it because at the time they could not separate Johns voice and it sounded awful.

Ringo is such a gift to music and to the the world. To think that he's been playing in bands for +/- 70 years, always holding the rhythm section together and keeping front line right on time. I love how he holds his sticks rather loosely while slappin' the sh* t out of those skins, never missing a beat, rock steady and suddenly flourishing. Ringo is a genius and it's no wonder he has so many millions of fans ✌♥ .

I think I remember Giles Martin saying he took Ringo’s drum recording and played it through speakers in Abbey Road studio two to get the room ambience. Generally don’t like GM’s mix though, everything is too loud and he killed all the dynamics/separation. His dad would have done it very differently I think.
@ExtremeGuyOne8 ай бұрын
Giles did not mix Now And Then, it was Spike Tent, Giles only did the Atmos version after the stereo was done, and it sounds a lot better (it still was limited because it has to be very close to the stereo one) Had Giles actually mixes Now and Then it would probably sound a lot better
@EltonWhenRockWasYoung5 ай бұрын
Sadly, Giles had no control over the mastering, which is where a lot of the dynamics were lost. The mastering on the 12" single has the most natural dynamics.
@Tony-yp7ok5 ай бұрын
@@EltonWhenRockWasYoung really? I’d be seriously pissed off if I gave a mastering engineer a nice dynamic mix and came back squashed to hell like that.
@Tony-yp7ok5 ай бұрын
@404TVfr yes, I didn’t realise GM only mixed the Atmos. I still think the stereo mix must have been pretty compressed before mastering, that’s a brutal job the mastering engineer has done if not.
@Tony-yp7ok5 ай бұрын
@404TVfr How do you know that? It must have been done under instruction because no mastering engineer would do that without being specifically asked to. Have you heard the mix before mastering? Listen to the piano in the intro - I’d wager that was already smashed to shit before the mastering engineer ever got his hands on it.
