Thank you for your positivity and enthusiasm. A rarity on KZbin. Very excited for the Eregion storyline especially, which takes centre stage this time round.

You can tell that Sauron was underground for a long time due to the change in appearance of the cave; stalactites and stalagmites. The stalagmites weren’t present at all in the beginning and looked at least a couple of metres tall after the transition, which takes on average over 15,000 years or several hundred years at the quickest (likely closer to the latter given we’re still in the 2nd age when he re-emerges)

It feels like they're implying Saulbrand was absent for most of the Second Age which I don't love since it does break "canon", but I like to think that maybe he wandered for a VERY long time as Halbrand before coming to the Southlands.

The elven rings are actually geniunly good so long as the one ring doesnt exist, or is held by sauron. They do not hold any evil in them unlike the other 16 and the one
@mrs.manrique7411
@mrs.manrique7411 18 күн бұрын
Yes. At most they are similar to Feanor’s works, in that their beauty and power causes elves to go crazy over them. But that is because of what’s inherently already wrong with elves, not the rings, per se.

the only reason they went corrupted because they were made only by Celebrimbor and he was tortured and killed for not telling the rings location so Sauron used his body as a banner
@davidbeer5015
@davidbeer5015 4 күн бұрын
One could *theoretically* argue they aren’t. They aren’t corrupting like the Nine or the One, but they do involve staving off decay or, as I believe I heard described, “embalming” Middle-earth which isn’t how things should be. That said, yeah they definitely aren’t like the other 16 since he wasn’t directly involved.

I think Sauron's manipulation of Adar is going to lead to the attack on Eregion. He wanted Adar to know that Sauron is back and then Sauron goes to Eregion. Adar will attack because Sauron is with the elves. Sauron will get two birds with one stone so to speak.

What I love about the scene with Adar and Sauron, Sauron swearing allegiance, is that he knows that oaths have power but by saying "I swear to the lord of Mordor," he means himself and grants himself even more power. That smirk, epic. Love it.

Gil: "Come! Lets us watch leaves fall from the tree! I want to perform a song for you I wrote cause it made me sad!" All elves: "do we have to?" Gil: "Yes, and you'd better clap." cut to none of them clapping Gil: "now this next song, I wrote about a girl I knew in the 8th grade..."

Cirdan is not standing behind Galadriel in LOTR, that's her husband, Celeborn, who will probably be in the show at some point. Cirdan doesn't have dialog in the LOTR films, he's only in them very briefly, mostly at the Grey Havens.

He IS standing behind Galadriel, but not in Lothlórien. It's in the prologue when they're all putting the elvish rings on for the first time. Gil-Galad is in the background of that shot as well if I recall correctly.

Mithril is imbued by the light of the Two Trees of Valinor, which gives the elves, and everything from Valinor immortality. We see this in a scene from season 1. "The Elf imbued the tree with pure light, while the Balrog channeled hatred into the branches. Ultimately, the tree was struck by lightning - which is how Mithril came to be formed."

The elves wanted the power to shield themselves from the encroaching darkness and preserve their lands and longevity outside of Valinor. The Elven Rings granted them just that. I think even time is weird on the lands of the ring bearers and make the hobbits feel funny and confused.

Galadriel is right. The elven rings were not corrupted by Sauron. The one ring still has power over them, however, the elves knew this, and knew to remove their rings once Sauron had his. But otherwise, the elven rings were forces for good in countless ways throughout the history of middle earth.

I think Galadriel never told Celebrimbor because she needed the rings made not only to save the Elves from the fading but also stay to fight Sauron. If she had revealed it before they arrived at Lindon, I don’t think the rings ever get made based on Elrond’s reaction now.

Conjecture: If Elrond was successful and cirdan(spelling) had thrown the rings into the deep ocean. Then as Gilgarod said, he would have ordered all the elves to leave Middle Earth for Valinor. That would have taken the elves out of the picture. Sauron then could have still convinced the dwarves and humans to make their rings. Unless the elven rings and smiths were needed to make the Dwarven and Human Rings. But if the elven rings and smiths were not needed. Then Sauron likely would have been able to dominate Middle-Earth. If that was the case, then despite Elrond being right about the danger of the rings, Gilgalad was right that the danger did not matter if there was to be hope for Middle-Earth. - As I understand it, there are stories about what happens at The Lonely Mountain with the Dwarves, Humans, and elves there and what happened in those lands during the Fellowship of the Rings and the defeat of Sauron. I do not know if those stories are from Tolkien's Silmarillion or not. But I think it would be a fun series if they did one.

It likely took at the very least seven hundred years given the growth rate of stalagmites which grew in the cave (plus we know that it takes Sauron a long time to regain a physical form after losing one)

@Dan-B You can also tell that it was a while given that when Galadriel Ended up at that fortress.She mentioned that her company had been tracking Sauron for hundreds of years( If there is a similar comment made by the elf who is in charge of Arondir's company). And we know from that title card at the beginning that it wasn't long after Morgoth's defeat that they retreated there.

Thank you for being open to the show, and not shit on it for the sake of it. The amount of hate the show is getting here on KZbin, is beyond unhinged. People are hating on it for the sake of it, looking at every little thing to attack. The sad part is that this season thus far is VERY lore friendly. There are Tolkien experts that explain how well the lore has been followed, despite taking some liberties here and there. Just ignore the haters, people are really trying to find KZbinrs who don't automatically hate the show, and are instead sharing their opinions. I loved your reaction!

I fully agree with you guys about your comments about the Galadriel actor. So far I felt she's been completely seamless in the role and I haven't once thought "I miss Cate Blanchett". Which is something that usually comes up when someone can't live up to a role. I'm also pleasantly surprised how much this show is basically taking the same path as season 2 of Wheel of Time and season 2 of Halo, in which case everyone says season 2 is when the series gets going. The show is finally giving me those good "I can't wait for the next episode" reaction and not the "when is this show going to get interesting" reaction.

im guessing skull guy is an Easterling tribesman, the Easterlings have always been shifty men, they're the main reason every other race distrust humans, since one of their ancient kings Ulfang the Black betrayed the elves halfway through the Battle of Unnumbered Tears and started slaughtering them from behind since they were secretly in service of Morgoth also you keep whining that rings won't be destroyed in the ocean but seriously, have you seen an orc with gills so far? they'd never find them
