Correction: The Noldor DID go to Valinor, it's the Sindar that didn't. The Noldor chose to stay in Middle Earth rather than return but were obsessed with recreating Valinor in Middle Earth.

small correction, Aüle isn't just specially revered by the dwarves, he's their creator Also, Smaug does not attack Khazad-Dum, he attacks Erebor

Gandalf speaks knowlngly to Pippin about the transition from the physical realm of Middle Earth to Valinor because he "lived" it at least twice by that point. In the early days of the world, as the maiar Olorin, he and other maiar were tasked by Manwe to guide the Elves from Middle Earth to Valinor. And in the 3rd Age, when his physical form lay broken on the top of the mountain after defeating the Balrog, his spirit was released and returned to Valinor. There he recovered for a long time. Per Gandalf, he "strayed out of though and time. The stars wheeled overhead, and everyday was as long as a life age of the Earth". Time passing differently for him there than in Middle Earth. Once he was recovered, he was sent back by Manwe as Gandalf the White to complete his task and turn the tide of the war against Sauron and Saruman.

I think the wine he drank on the mountain top might have been Saurons blood. We might see him come back next season. I think Calebrimbor might be a similar case. Saurons blood was on the blade that killed him.

1:01:32 Tolkien literally illustrated the Door of Durin himself. It would be insane for Jackson or even these chuckleheads to deviate from that design.

I think the wine Sauron gave Adar on the mountain top might have been his blood then the blade that kills Celebrimbor is also coated in his blood. I think they both might come back next season when Sauron mentioned he has ways to bring them back. Maybe alive or tainted in some way or maybe captured spirits.

I have a question.. In season 1, Orcs (Uruk's) couldn't go out in the sun. That's why they had their ditches and trenches covered with all the cloth. But now in this season it doesn't ever seem to be a problem for them. What's the deal?
@quirkyjoeAnimatedАй бұрын
They create all that smoke over Eregion to cover the sun and create a shadow. Does it sometimes seem that the Sun shines through? Yes, but they clearly make a point of obscuring the sun a number of times in these episodes.

I think the scene where Galadriel sees the orcish funeral ceremony is a great indicator of how Orcish culture will later degrade under Sauron, where they are actually just enthusiastically cannibalizing the bodies of their dead comrades.
@redbarchetta8782Ай бұрын
One thing also to point out. Morgoth himself poured his corruption into Middle Earth itself (Morgoth's Ring). That is how Sauron is able to use his corruption, because it was already there to leverage. Also, the 3 Elven rings should have been created last, not first.

Currently watching and I’m about 15 minutes in. Let’s just acknowledge that the Elrond-Isildur Mount Doom scene wasn’t in the books. They invented that for the movie. Isildur just left the battlefield with the ring, there was no dramatic single moment of Isildur turning evil or whatever they were trying to imply there
@landofalwayswinter66627 күн бұрын
In fact the whole “Aragorn being worried that he’s weak to temptation like his ancestor Isildur” is also some nonsense that Peter Jackson added for dramatic tension. It didn’t exist in the book, at all. It makes for good movie tension but it completely misses the whole point of the ring. The ring is purely evil and will corrupt literally anyone. Even Frodo (who apparently has by far the strongest natural resistance to the ring’s corruption) failed at the end and could not complete the mission by his own will. Saying “I’m vulnerable to the ring” is like saying “I’m vulnerable to bullets.”

35:21 see i never thought that the scene with the uruk hai showed that one "hatching" from under the tree...i saw it as a form of torture plus nourishment of a fully grown orc buried under a tree in a magic womb type thing, suffering in solitary confinement but being nourished and grown through the energy of the tree...hence turning a normal orc into a levelled up uruk hai...since elves were taken and tortured and corrupted by morgoth to create orcs maybe the tree birth thing is the next level up to create uruk hai?

I truly loved this season. And i know there are a lot of critics out there that claim it's not faithful to Tolkien's stories... But i see The Lord of the Rings as exactly that. Stories told by unreliable narrators or storytellers. Tolkien created a world to let imagination run amuck. Every essential piece of these stories that create the world they are in stay faithful to the source, but everything else that may be a little off seems to be some sort of unreliable storyteller.

it still blows my mind that a massive AAA film studio is making fan fiction of LOTR and just pretending like its canon. they are abusing the hell out of the licensing agreement they have with the tolkien estate which the only reason they haven't been sued. its interesting to see a fan film with a massive 100 million budget though. its also really hilarious when someone asks "which book is this from? i don't remember this part" lol. its from peter jackson's checkbook hahaha
