I disagree strongly with the take that it is bad just because they created new characters and plot lines. That's called creativity, which is generally considered a good thing. Decide if it is good or bad on it's own merits. I for one was captivated when watching the first episode of this season. I thought Season 1 was alright, but so far I am really liking season 2 (only 2 episodes in). Side note, about 6 of the 10 things that you listed on how they made the show different from the source material can be summed up by the first point that the show is more condensed. I think condensing the show makes a lot of sense because it is a TV show not a book.

Thirdly, I think the second reason you said about why Sauron gets captured in Mordor is correct. You said that doesn't make sense since he could just kill Adar and take control of the orcs, but we saw in the opening scene how well that would go for him. I think watching Sauron have to deceive his way into power is a more compelling narrative device than having him just be super powerful from the start. Afterall this is the story of how he became the Lord of the Rings (i.e., how he became so powerful).

I like the UFO shows they have great UFO footage from the 90s and 2000s before all the UFO clips become CGI..the interviews are all silly but the raw footage is worth the watch

Creativity on its own is not good just because it is new or different..they were not really creative they just wrote one silly plotline after another. If you create something it should clearly make sense from start to finish this dose nothing of the kind

I made a very concious decision to ONLY watch KZbin reviews of Rings of Power Season 2 and not the show itself. I cannot take anymore after s01 and do not want to give them my viewership data, so, Very happy to see you weighing in on this disaster. Give me the meat, and give it to me raw
