Hi Susannah what a gorgeous looking model i love the Br green I was never a fan of the Thumpers but seeing this one makes me think again. well done getting the sound working again i dont thing i would have been brave enough to have done it. i have been tempted by a couple of sound fitted loco's on Ebay in the past but think think i will stay well clear now. thanks for sharing cheers... I have never been a fan of factory fitted sound as is ,I have always fitted a new speaker and in one case had the sound remapped by Howes ! glad you sorted it out tho !

Great unit, looks great and sounds good too. I've had a few locos off ebay and like yourself been disappointed, makes me wonder if people buy them new and have an issue and just sell them on. I don't buy sound on ebay now either. I had a Peak that was wired through the pcb and it was very daunting to have to resolder the wires. You've done well to get it apart and fix it lol, these things do come to test us but it's very annoying, I wouldn't sell anything to someone without being honest about it. Look forward to seeing more of the thumper soon. Cheers Paul

CV 63 adjusts the volume of all sound effects, including motor. Think it ranges between 1-192, with 192 being full volume. Just reduce the number it is set at, on CV63.( You can reduce individual volumes too, ie just the motor, just the horn...etc, but its a little bit trickier, adjusting CV32 and the sound slots.)

It looks amazing and sounded fine to me Susannah but I thought the guards whistle was too loud. Can you change volumes for individual CV's? David.

I think it sounds quite good, maybe not as good as another Thumper I have heard on KZbin (the speaker as you suggest?) but still pretty good. The sound should be pretty easy to turn down (CV63 from a quick Google search). She seems a wee bit jerky, but maybe that is the video frame rate. I'd be tempted to tinker with the acceleration as she takes off a bit quickly. Overall, I think you should be pleased - she looks lovely!

We can all get stung. Do not let it put off. I always do mine via Paypal, and you can get your money back. The unit looks good. The camera can tell lies. ESU decoders are normally good. Why can on one make body removal easy? You can break your fingernails, and break the thing. What you have done to get in to work is great. I agree with comments 'buyer beware' .

I have only ever got one from ebay with sound well meant to have had sound and meant to have nether been taken out of the box form new. right ok no sound chip no dcc chip no blanking plug but got my money back in the end glad I always record opening the parcel as he said I had taken it out and all the tricks now I buy locos and get legomanbeffo sound.
