Thinking out loud, the advantage to me of the mitts/pads is the little fiber fingers will get into cracks and do a more thorough clean. The advantage to me of the sponge is that it lets go of dirt easier and it saves a load of laundry.

I did a full rinseless with my chem guys chenille mitt this evening. I honestly enjoyed it a lot more. I felt like it was much easier to glide across the paint and was super easy to keep pressure off. It’s impossible to do a dead on comparison of dirty media to my UBS (cuz ya know, it’s black) but I also feel the mitts get more dirt off in less passes. I did just 2 passes on each panel (one for cleaning one for good measure/checking) and have no hose so only used a pump sprayer. The second pass was always clean. But, now I need to wash my mitt while my sponge is always RTU

U can wash it with a grit guard for faster usage. I like the mitts as well. I’ll usually machine wash them after 3-4 uses.

@@DetailingBreakdown good to know! They’re also cheap enough to just have 3-4 ready but then again I just bought 20 towels from auto fiber 😅 Definitely another one of those preference things. Too many guys use towels, mitts, and sponges professionally for them to not all be viable options. Won’t stop my obsessive overthinking tho 😂 for what’s it’s also worth the mitts are cooler and more fun 😎

@@DetailingBreakdown It's working well. I like it because it's smallish and one sided. I use a rinse bucket with grit guard and washboard. My other bucket gets rinseless solution added only as I need it. I dry each panel with the smaller sized Gyeon Silk Dryer. I find it all safe for my black car. I do start with a very liberal misting of each panel.

I fill a 32 oz bottle 10:1 and pre soak the panel before using a mitt or sponge. That way less opportunities to marring the paint. The product lifts the the drift and encapsulates it.

Ive been loving the worm mitt for Rw’ing. Followed up with a 500 gsm towel before drying. Never tried the regular MF mitts .. just dont see the dirt releasing well. I dont like sponges. I remember Yvan from Opti saying “your applying the product” which would leave dirty ONR on the car. Dont know about anyone else, I aint got no time for dirt on my drying towel 😆

foam is a frictional material so I wont use it for any form of washing. microfibre grabs and holds but can be aggressive if your too heavy handed on the paint. I just found your channel, looks great, good work. You can do rinseless without buckets too. Just use ALOT of towels. I'd rather wash about twelve towels then use one on the whole car and relying on a piece of plastic designed for keeping olives submerged in oil and just a bucket of water to clean the sponge or mitt as you go.

They say foam is safer because of the *deep cuts* and it has minimal *pressure points* But A chenille wash mitts fingers are _just as deep_, and if you get a wash pad you get less pressure as well-not nearly as much cushion but how much do you _really_ need? I think it comes down to preference ultimately. All medias “scratch” or “marr” whenever you’re using agitation to clean rinseless or soap. I personally find my sponge works best for my maintained car. But when I washed a customers car with it the other day, (no rinsing off don’t have a portable water set up like that) it just seemed to make mud. Yes it got it mostly clean but mud is annoying lol. Idk, I think it’s interesting the same people who say sponges are safest also sell you the sponge 🧽 not that they’re unsafe per say, but maybe not as necessary as the distributors want us to think
@DetailingBreakdown
@DetailingBreakdown 2 жыл бұрын
If it creates mud, u will have to use a rinse bucket and go back over again from the clean bucket after the rinse bucket. Some really dirty jobs just take more passes. And definitely not a lot of pressure as some may think. A bit more time but it’s worth the extra pass. Definitely just preference as u said. I like towels actually because it’s less solution I have to make and can store them in a bucket with a Gamma lid to be ready for later. But it’s fun having choices.

@@stephen1503 not if technique is proper marring can be greatly minimized and avoided. Don't fall for the whole everything scratches no it doesn't. If you're using too much pressure sure.
