The first tree with blossoms was sakura because the blossoms had a split at the end of each petal. If it was ume, it would be rounded.

Atami is known for early sakura. Blooming from early february. Great if you visit in winter but still want a bit of spring. Also if you visit for a few days you should take a trip to bananawani park a few stations south of Atami.

I live 2 hours north of Sydney by train and 2 trains an hour is just normal for us... No rapid trains like shinkansen (maybe one day, hope hope... but unlikely). I visited Atami in September 2019 and I look forward to visiting again it is a lovely place.

Quite an adventure to spend some four hours in riding on a local train. But it was worth for introducing a new town Atami - onsen spot along the ocean. It was an interesting walk to see the hidden oldest onsen - cave tunnel with water boiling like hell in the end. No wonder that it was as hot as in a steam room. What a luck to finally find a restourant with less people for a late lunch on the way to the plum garden. Another cave path this time in the nature. If in the full bloom this garden may be exceptional but even now everyone could get the idea how it might have looked. Looking forward to a next one day trip although it seems a bit tiring even for a fit person and experienced walker and traveler as Rion.

Ooooh I'm totally loving this video and Inaka vibes in Atami. So beautiful. A place I haven't heard of until now. The cave you went in looked like a mini-sauna. The flower garden b-rolls were gorgeous. Soo glad you found the restaurant where you were able to film and enjoy that yummy seafood curry. Wish the travel time didn't take up too much time so you would have a moment to relax at an onsen besides at the foot one. The towel you brought, is blue your favorite color? At least you saved some cash with the pass and have more use for another trip. Thankss for hard work and dedication as usual. Keep smiling and walking

geez~ that place is so peaceful~~ actually, anywhere in Japan is so peaceful. Definitely you can do your “soul searching” trip in Japan ❤ And that train ride reminds me of our journey when we went to Gotemba. We love the scenery that we saw while were inside the local train. Natsukashiiiiii~~~ ☺Also, can I just say that the BGM that you used when you entered the onsen cave gave me a “Pirates of Caribbean” vibe 😆As always, thank you so much Rion for travelling all the way to Atami even you’re still recovering from your allergies when you filmed this just to give us another beautiful view of Japan.
