funfact, before Swarm came out there was actually a PVE gamemode in Wild Rift and it was part of the ruination event, you played as human Kalista and you fight the Iron Order including a Hecarim Miniboss

Arena is just another competitive mode, most players are casual, so no surprise it didnt explode expectation. Swarm got the genre player in Star Guardians and Odyssey were not based on a popular genre. I hope they come back one day.

Well, Arena could have beem a fun mode, but min-maxers gonna min-max. But this one is on the players not the devs. People gotta learn that in order for you to have fun it is not obligatory for your opponent not to have fun.

I am playing less and less of arena just because of the stupid changes that went in with this itteration - if they remove anvils and prismatics I would litteraly play only this mode but man, do I hate the stupid idea of having a forced random item that not only delays my agency and choice as a player, but also pretty much defines if I have a chance to win or not.

can't say i agree with not making arena a permanent mode. I don't believe they did enough to change it month to month to keep it fresh, but i also understand that would take a lot of effort to maintain both the base game, ranked, aram, and arena. The thing is, arena was too small and was quickly solved by the community. even with the addition of more bans there were still very common team comps and the easter eggs got solved so early that it no longer had appeal. It would need to be much more stimulating or offer something more than it currently does to really be solidified as a permanent game mode and i really just don't think they tried enough with it. for example, doing clash events in arena would have been really cool. Maybe adding in a starting stage effect similar to tft that maybe locks out certain augments or classification of augments.

Makes a "new gamemode" Forbids ANY kind of real progression in it: no masteries, no missions, no eternals, no achievements. Players: Well, playing this feels like a waste, so I'm going back to the grind even if I have negative fun. Riot: Guess that's it, this gamemode is trash and is never coming back!

This is exactly what happened to Dominion and Twisted Treeline. Both were ignored by Riot for years. No updates what so ever. And then they were wondering why player lost interest in them. Its not the first time Riot is doing this...

I think with Arena here Riot gave the players tools to have fun but this mode being basically TFT but in lol didn't make it justice. In TFT you have no direct control of your units and so the game is entirely based on decision making and luck. In Arena though mechanical input matters no less than luck or decision making so everyone kinda started running a lot of disgusting or boring combinations to maximize the mechanical part. Would be nice to limit champion pool and tune it from there but that would go against the purpose of the mode

When it comes to Auto fill it'll NEVER be balanced even if they have equal Fills on both teams some players just do not play other roles and taking them out of their role and slamming them into the same skill level just forces them to pray their team can carry them or that they somehow don't let a big enough gap form to make things unwinnable You could argue "lol get good" but when you're not the one autofilled and the Jungle difference is so massive there's no hope what can you do

One thing I gotta say about Arena during summer is that first of all, me and my friend group barely played league during summer at all, I think I only played like 5 games in 2 months. And also, that was probably the most boring version of arena. Not only were the maps kinda unenjoyable (looking at u lily pad map) but something about the gameplay itself felt sluggish and laggy. In normal summoner's rift I had no problems, but when playing arena it felt like my movement was delayed. And the augments somehow felt worse too, every game I saw other people getting perfect augments for their champions and every time I wanted to try an interesting build I didnt get a single augment that fit it. I'd queue in mundo (or some other tank) hoping to get one or two of the augments that make u extra tanky, or benefit from u being tanky, but only got augments that helped my damage output, usually ones scaling with the least preferred stat. I was a massive fan of arena during the first time they brought it, me and my friend would non-stop play it, but the two times after that something felt off, and it wasnt because of burnout

Arena getting taken away again is incredibly sad; it's the most fun I've had playing LoL since 2013. I feel like it's almost perfect and generally way more fun than ARAM... I think some more attention to novelty, replayability and variance, along with a better ranking system for the sweats would probably help a lot.

I think one of the problems with rotating gamemodes is how long they are up for / how long we have without any gamemode. I don't know how hard it is to maintain at least one *rotating* gamemode active at all times so I can't really complain. But I'm just so bored of Norms and even ARAM now. Personally I'd prefer that instead of trying to make more gamemodes permanent (I think Swarm could be though since it can be singleplayer, and League doesn't really have that besides Bots. It's a nice break from the League community.) They'd also probably struggle with keeping multiple gamemodes all up at one time with all the changes to items and new champions. With the age of TikTok and KZbinShorts it would make sense to continuously change things for the people with short attention spans (I'm not making fun of you I'm sorry I'm just saying that's how the internet works now)

Arena being sustainable is mostly up to how much resources the dev team is willing to pour into the project

It might need some meta progression. Kinda stealing a bit of dark and darker maybe, and you try to collect all these pieces so you get that 1-5% movement speed, 1-5Ad or 1-8 ap etc. And basically is just a way to make you want to grind, and then reset those after 3 months

@@ayoCC people need progression and they need variety in consistent updates, arena is a perfectly suitable template onto which to put the usual f2p multiplayer game mechanics already present in league to keep engagement with the mode, but riot are too risk-averse to ever dare do anything that could disturb solo/duo’s grip on the game

As an aram only guy, I really hope they don't just slam a new skin on aram and call it a day instead of gameplay changes. I hope they would adressing more issues like aram buff/nerf, qol change like showing those buff/nerf in champ select, bring in more new mechanics like gate from last time, making all champ available would make it less stale(free rotation champ are omnipresence), maybe a return of ban.....lots of things they can do, map skin would be a real disappointment.

Rito needs to change the way their punishment system works... That pile of flaming **** needs an overhaul. You get ONE chat mute, you lose basically anything you can get in game. You can't get chests anymore, you can't get key fragments anymore, you can't even get ranked rewards if you have a penalty... Ranked borders, ranked skins, none of it. And there is no set indicator to show how close you are to getting back to your milestones. This completely pushed me away from the game. I played my butt off for one season just to see how high I could get, end of season comes, I get nothing to show for it because I had a 5 game chat restriction at the beginning of the season, which eliminated the possibility of getting anything.

@@dibel3669 By telling someone to F off... It's really quite simple. Here's another example. You cannot say cancer in league chat. The word is straight up banned, doesn't matter the context. I was talking to my team and said "Wow that team comp they have is straight cancer to deal with" and was instantly chat muted after. Rito are trying so hard to curb toxic behavior with their bots that it's ruining normal conversation.

For me personally the main reason I stopped playing arena was becaue I was trying to get the "Arena God" title, which is virtually impossible when you play against people who play comps that get easy wins and eventually it just becomes a Rock, Paper, Scissors simulator and winning with 80 (or whatever) champs becomes incredibly hard to do because of how often u will run into "easy to win" comps like Yi + Yuumi, Leona + any ADC, Alistar + Tahm Kench, etc etc. I didn't get bored of the game mode for the game mode itself, I got tired of trying to grind the challenge I wanted when the player base plays the way they do. That's all there is to it, really
