What went wrong? Random events being too random to be fair. You're slightly ahead? Here, capture this point inside their fountain. You're slightly behind? Loot Teemo has a date with their Daisy. That, and bugs galore.

It's not a miss. The random events occur near the losing team. If it appeared near the winning team, it would be impossible to reclaim the game (then, boooooooooring)

@@DouglasSoaresVicente In my experience playing Nexus Blitz, if my team is ahead by only 2-3 kills, most of the time the flaming circle center/point to capture/target dummy/whatever is going to be in their jungle. If this happened later in the game, when either team can more easily deal with the damn golem, it wouldn't be an issue. And the more infuriating thing, when my team is hopelessly behind, luck has it that the enemy team has to contest the objective somewhere near our bot turret. And let's face it, turret aggro is infinitely more easy to manage than an AOE knockup+knockback that also deals a hefty amount of damage early on. I'm not saying that every objective has to be in the center of the map, only that certain locations should be off-limits earlier in the game (unless the gold/kill advantage is already considerable) so you don't spend the next 15 or so minutes burning incense to appease whichever RNG demon you managed to anger by simply waking up this morning. Edit: it already seems that the locations of those types of objectives get selected in a certain radius from the center of the map based on team gold difference; having it be in a radius from the center of the bottom lane instead, while also taking the average champion level into account will make those events fair enough for everyone.

If they're calling them rotating gamemodes, in my opinion, they should double down on this idea and have the gamemodes rotate every one or two weeks instead of being reserved to only events and make the pool of the gamemodes not only URF, One For All and Nexus Blitz, but include all of their previous gamemodes in as well. This way it doesn't really matter if the gamemode performs badly in the long term as it will just get swapped out in 7 days, and it will provide oppurtunities for old gamemodes to come back, which is always a plus.

The problem is bugs, each new champion or an item/rune change can add a lot of bugs to the old gamemodes. If they did that they would need to create a team that it's job is to find and eliminate bugs only in the rotating game modes

@@E_D___ The way I see it is if they put that much work into nexus blitz they surely already have a team for alternating gamemodes already, and nobody would really expect the gamemodes to be perfect anyway, many would just be happy that they were back at all. I'm sure any majorly gamebreaking bugs would be spotted by the community and subsequently fixed. But you raise a good point, if they can't even fix game breaking bugs in summoner's rift how could they possibly manage all the gamemodes at once. It'd just be nice to even have a chance at playing the old gamemodes, bugs and all.

I while ago (like, so many years ago) that was a thing, every week we had a difrent game mode like; doom bots, the shurima one etc... and it was cool! Because atleast you have the chance of playing something "new" besides Aram or Rift

People just don't play game modes as much, you can see by those statistics, they will grind missions on them, once they finish missions they'll go back to regular SR, and it's sad, players take everything way too serious, and he is right when he talks abour ARAM, you get random champ, one lane, run it down. There's not a lot of place to do tactics and bust your nuts just to win. That's why I loved dark star mode, with Thresh, and other AI modes, cause it was co-op, so I could relax and not worry about some random guy taking his 1mil points Yi to assert dominance on blitz or etc.

Not only that the game mode is just not fun. The rng nature of the events always screwed my friends and I over. Even if we were losing it felt like they ALWAYS happened in the enemy JG. Kinda sucks that because nexus blitz was bad we don't get other game modes. What if I simply don't like nexus blitz but I did other game modes? Just strange

Also the spawning of objectives in enemy/allied locations, I feel like if there's an event that's neutral (e.g. DPS Check, King of the Hill), the objective should also spawn in a neutral area instead of favouring a team one way or the other

The problem with league is that they railroad all champions into a single function. If players found out new strats and builds they will change it fast and if a meta suddenly happens they will change it if they don't like it. It's boring and it feels like just playing a game that the developers expect to happen

Personally, this is my favorite game mode. It is pretty short and fast paced so you can specifically focus on the mechanics of your champ, teamfights, etc. Since the twisted treeline removal I'm kinda lacking a mode where you can pick up a new champ without the risk of being useless for 50 minutes straight.

Hard same but the problem I have is that the RNG and the teammates can make the experience very bad. I played around 200 games this time and even more the last time(s). I love the mode but I am in a constant limbo (like he said in the video) between taking it serious or not. When I try out a champ or want to learn him, I can't play them 100% yet and just try to get a grasp of the champ. But when I hop on a character I'm good on, I feel very bad when my jungle goes 0/6 to the first red buff. And the events make it worse. It feels very unfair when the first event is something like dps check and by slightly winning you now have to play 6v5 in their jungle, they then get something stupid like Catapult for constant pressure or Elder and push towers right after with it. The mode also feels very, very snowbally. Once you get a fair lead, most of the time you can just ride that until the end if you're a good player. I don't enjoy SR or ARAM, so the gamemodes are everything that keeps me playing. I had over 700 dominion games and well over 1k TT games (with a lot of games on the old map of TT too). When they removed Dominion, I knew TT was next and when that got removed, I lost most interest in the game. Sad, since I kinda Iike the game a lot.

You can use Aram as a tool to improve your overall gameplay, gamesense and most importantly, your ability to avoid being punished while poking the enemy. Aram can throw 3 artillery champs at you, so you have to constantly dodge. Frustrating to play against, but also really good training. Since you get random roles you'll learn how to play better in most roles except for jungle so if you ever get autofilled you're not completely helpless.

It’s weird when if your a tank it sucks, you take extra damage... making your job harder. But ezreal on fire? His Q cooldown goes so low that It’s cooldown is less than his aa speed.

Found this out with Taric. I was messing around and was playing Stridebreaker Muramana Taric. Got on fire a few times. You know how when Taric heals (Q), it activates his passive and he can auto twice to get two charges back? When you're on fire, that no longer works. You Q then auto twice and it doesn't even give you one charge back, it goes down to like a 5 second CD. Ruins all survivability that Taric has in long fights because he takes more damage and can't sustain.

I love odyssey game mode and the other PvE modes so much, specially odyssey because we had some augments that changed the way our champion skills work, like Yasuo throwing billions of tornadoes everywhere and Jinx ult doing damage in the ground it passed by. The missions that gave rewards for doing things encouraged us a lot to it be more fun too

I loved the old crystal scar map, it was perfect for hide and seek. I remember tracking down custom lobbies for hide and seek and making friends through the mode. We tried to make it work on rift, but it just never worked the same. The huge circular fog, all in one piece, the speed shrines scattered throughout, the amazing flow of the interior circle and bushes… it was so good. I loved both seeking and hiding. I’d love for riot to take that idea and polish it, like they did with ARAM. But they won’t. The game isnt popular anymore because it just. Works so terribly on rift. Ultimate bravery would be another neat idea for them to play off, but they won’t do that either because it’s not different enough from rift.

There is no counterplay to that and it’s incredibly frustrating to the one losing the fight. In real games, these champs would avoid this by simply not engaging but here you don’t have a choice.

I'm a bit late but here is my take on League's "temporary" game modes. I used to try and love them. Dominion, Nexus Blitz, Aram, Urf, Arurf, Odyssey and Star Guardians...but i just stopped playing those because they always remove the god damn game mode. What's the fucking point of playing those if i know that in not even a month, they'll remove it? Why can't they give us the option of selecting these game modes in the custom games settings AT LEAST. Nah i'm just sick of Riot's Shenanigans.

I have the most memories with the different game modes too because me and my friends were just having fun playing it, unlike in Ranked games where we quarrel if we lose, such a toxic space sometimes, brings out the worst of people but we still laugh it off after a day.

Star Guardian was my favorite because of Star Guardian Poppy. I had to be a really amazing tank to help the squishy allies and be an actual tank although Poppy is not a pure tank it was fun tanking the damage.

im sort of new to league as ive only played for around 5 months now and only level 56 at the moment, but in the short time that ive experienced URF and Nexus Blitz, i absolutely love the chaos and sillyness of Nexus Blitz, when my friends and i play it we use champion randomizers to choose our champions for us and personally its a lot more fun that way!! its honestly my favorite game mode,, even more than normal sums rift just because of ots weird simple and quick yet complicated nature to it,, i think its honestly more fun than A-RAM too as its something that requires a bit of thinking!

This is my favorite mode in League of Legends. It's the mode where I can go in with some degree of "I just do whatever I feel like this game" while still having a somewhat cohesive idea of a competitive and structured aspect, moreso than "let's just throw 5 champions into one lane and see what happens." It's like the Mario Party of League for me.

I remember when I played smite 5 years ago, they had several game modes, from aram to 3v3, classic 5v5, 4v4 and an arena mode. One way the incentivized you back then to play all of them was that you could earn first win once per mode. Also they had a daily updated special mode (like urf or everyone start with 100k gold) that featured different maps, to bring the players to try other modes out as well

man I actually miss odyssey mode :( it had quite a bit of replay value thanks to missions with it, with the hardest one taking maybe a few dozen games (whole team only using 2 augments on hardest difficulty) which I was lucky enough to finish thanks to some dedicated players

Jinx with infinite flashes was the most fun thing ever. You don't need to balance in PVE so you could have all this stupid shit and the design team didn't have to hold back. I did all the missions too. I had so much fun with the mode I didn't mind going through several games to finally meet a team on the same mission as me. I'll never understand people who hated the mode because of missions. Since when is replay value and free rewards a bad thing? It turning people toxic? Ranked SR is far more toxic than odyssey ever was.

I always thought the Dark Star Thresh mode would have been good permanently, It's significantly different from Summoner's Rift, and is a really fun skillshot dodging mode. it being shorter than SR (15 minutes at most if I remember) makes it a good shoe in for a time slot niether SR or ARAM really fill anymore (ARAM did this when SR games routinely went to 40+ minutes, but now they take about the same amount of time) The maind drawback I see is that Dark Star has very little variance, most games will be the same, there is maybe potential to add support for other Dark Star Champions, but it's designed around Thresh.

That mode was one of the best ones. It was simple, very replayable, and was just pure fun, which was the goal. They could just reuse some of the other champions' assets to bring in the other hooking champs and give them special stuff like Blitz's W being a dash and maybe his R being a sort of aoe slow or knockback that scales with the enemy's missing hp.

Literally the only downside to Nexus Blitz for me was the fact I couldn't get real rewards for it. i couldn't get mastery 6 or 7, I couldn't get season rewards, i couldn't play nexus blitz instead of summoners and get the same rewards. Nexus Blitz was perfect for me and my love of unorthodox junglers, which tow the line of taking is serious but using nonoptimal champs.

Dominion and 3V3 was such a breath of fresh air when you needed a break from classic 5v5 rift. Honestly, it's the only major thing that Smite has a leg up on over League, is that they have rotating game modes every day, with multiple base game modes, and all of them are played. There's people who legit don't play 5v5 conquest in smite at all, and still have loads of fun. it's so sad that league doesn't do it anymore.

Honestly as much as I can appreciate the hours they put in it wasn't right, it created a greyzone for what the mode should be, allowing competitive elements into a casual game mode doomed it. The whole construction of the mode didn't fit, they added objectives which is one of the elements that defines a competitive mode and skill expression through their use and players ability to obtain them, in order to make the game shorter and more fun. That's like introducing baron on steroids into summoners rift so that every game ends as soon as one team gets it, it kills the fun element as they're essential to victory so by introducing the element to make it shorter they made it inherently competitive, the mode was built around this conundrum. Dark star thresh's game mode is exactly what a for fun hame mode should be, for a game to be fun and short there should only ever be a reduction of existing features, not an introduction of more because otherwise you draw in the audience that is willing to learn these new things to win which makes the new audience inherently more competitive than a for fun game mode should ever be.

When nexus blitz was first released on the public servers, it was all i ever played with my buddies for the time it was out, and we all were rather disappointed when it was no longer going to be a permanent game mode. A lot of us quit and never came back, since, as we saw it, riot gave up on casual play when nexus blitz was removed.

Not really. As Exil showed, it was due to very low player counts. Maintaining a game mode takes a significant amount of time and resources and if only a few people play it... well, you can do the math from there.

My personal biggest gripe with the mode is actually how long it lasts. Short games are fine don’t get me wrong, however league of legends is a game about seeing your champion grow stronger as the game goes on and seeing yourself scale is really enjoyable and fun to play. Now on nexus blitz, for a player who likes to play scaling champions, imagine that every time you finally hit your power spike the game just... ends, too fast to justify the time you spent scaling. If scaling happened faster and you could consistently hit 5-6 items by 18 minutes maybe it’d be different but the game mode wants you to goof off, not power farm, if I wanted to do that I could just play norms, and as such you only hit 4-5 items sometime only 3.5 items, and only get to spend a few minutes with these items anyways. This all combined makes it so that every time I play nb, I go into it knowing that the game will end as I’m starting to really have fun, and at that point, again I’d rather play summoners rift.

The issue is the item update, they didn’t increase the gold income to compete with the new more expensive items. People pointed that out multiple times, but Riot didn’t give a fuck, so we were stuck with trying to build a single mythic until the game is halfway over.

I have played more nexus blitz in my year of playing league than I have played SR. I agree that somethings like the placement of objectives are really annoying, and the ‘on fire’ thing is awkward, but the minigames inside of this game mode make league a lot less monotone. It is fast paced and ends quickly, making me play more and more. It is a for fun scenario, as well as all of the other RGMs, which results in less toxicity. In my opinion, it is a lot better than SR because it is less monotone for me, and it has a time limit of sorts that puts pressure on the team to end it quickly, so it doesn’t go on for too long. I know many ppl hate it, but for me it’s just really fun.

I still remember when TT was a thing, i played it a lot, like half of my games kind of a lot and i remember being shocked when they deleted it and revealed that only around 1% of the entire playerbase had ever played that mode I still miss it, they could've updated it to modern standards, it still had the old tower design and same with the neutral monsters, where there still were wraiths instead of raptors and the old wolves and ancient golem models, but even if they completely updates it pretty much the entire playerbase just didn't care

Nexus Blitz would be more fun if it didn't feel like you were at the mercy of "RNG". When your losing and the events are thrown into the enemy jungle, or under their turret, or if they win an event and get Elder dragon while you get "blessing of blitz" it just feels one sided, and that your just destined to lose

Personally, I really like this game mode. The issue is as you mentioned, there are tryhards and there are casuals. If Nexus Blitz came out 10 years ago, this would've been so much more popular because people didn't take League as seriously or as competitively as they do now. I've had cases where toxicity reached to Nexus Blitz, so not only is the competitiveness of the game is so high that they would rather play SR ranked, you're also going to have players who take it so seriously that they get pissed off about losing a game that is meant for you to have fun, which takes off the fun out of the game as well.

Every time nexus blitz has gone live, the messaging has been that it was "an experiment" and "a temporary mode", I really feel like that ends up becoming a self fulfilling promise situation. Once I've had my fun and finished the missions, there was no longer any value to me in mastering the mode when it's just going to disappear. My time is better spent in ranked, where I feel rewarded for investing my time over the long run. On the flip side, I go back to tft because it is permanent and has a ranked ladder. If riot just committed and made nexus blitz a permanent mode with a ranked ladder, I would be willing to commit to mastering it, but why would I commit that time in advance?
