Online only games are huge problem when it comes to ownership as far as I'm concerned this shit eith needs to stop or studios and publishers need to either never shutdown the servers or when they decide to stop running them they need to handover ownership/access to those servers to owners of their Online Only games.

At this point, if a company is gonna pull something like this where they make digital purchases no longer available nor usable, they should refund you because you bought the thing with the intention of keeping it forever. If you didn't wanna keep it, you'd pay for either a subscription service or you'd refund it if you decide soon enough you don't want it anymore. So yeah, I think if they're not gonna bring any of those lost digital content back, they should refund everyone who bought digital copies.

That's a bit of an odd way of determining the value of the digital copies. Companies jacking up the prices for additional seasons goes way back to before digital copies was a thing. S1 is often cheap and anything past that is printed in lower quantities and with a higher price for the people already addicted. Digital copies definitely add some value, but it's hard to say how much. From my own observations it's not much when looking at what someone will pay for a used copy with unredeemed codes versus what they would pay for a copy with used codes.

These companies get away with this to many times. If we bought it we should own it forever. There's no reason they cant move over your digital purchases from funimation to crunchy roll. There's an old app I used on my iPad air gen1 from WB that closed down and they transferred over all the digital copies to google, no issues so its been done before. Just a heads up to you all these companies like apple for iTunes and Microsoft can and have removed digital copies from ppls hard drives...... sooo don't feel to safe in that you have a copy on a hard drive:(.

Well, the copies I have are ripped straight from Blu-ray. They aren’t going anywhere because they aren’t attached to any web based services

I’ve used windows and Mac for years as an IT and network specialist and I’ve never heard of that happening. In 99% that illegally accessing your personal data remotely is illegal and people can also sue for behavior like that. On top of that, I know that computers (Mac’s at least) don’t allow for random remote access. And lastly, most home modern networks would make that impossible anyway because of the way that handle inbound and outbound traffic.

What’s worse is the shows that are no longer available for purchase and can only be viewed online. I admit it’s part of the reason for the whole “ digital storage vs disc drive” war with the game systems. I paid extra to keep my purchases online but if I don’t have access to it, it’s not just a waste of my $$$ but also my time. Let’s admit, it’s more convenient to have it available online than having to carry a bunch of discs (besides moving or viewing at home) when recommending/ showing a friend.

This is why I like files cause then i could put all my favorits shows and movies on a drive. If i ever need to move it just move it to another drive and have multiple.

You did not waste $600, the only way to get the Digital Codes was to buy the Blu-Ray/DVD.

Both boxes I held up in the video had a DVD and Blu-ray in them. The one with the digital copy was more expensive. And this was the case for every copy that came with a digital code.

How about you make a 30 minute long rant against this kindof behavior on companies instead of this. Just tell your viewerbase "DO NOT SUPPORT CRUNCHYROLL" I sure as hell wont and will not as Crunchyroll has driven up the price of physical releases by not reissuing stuff. ALSO get some fansubsfor your JP set and rip them. If you can figure out ripping then im sure youre not dumb. Do your due diligence
