I’m just glad that you’re not just the standard, the row, Phoebe Philo, those pretentious people who think clean and quiet is everything. Your appreciation for Hedi’s Celine definitely gives you more life and dimension

Isn't Hedi's Celine also a version of clean and quiet, though not as drastically as Phobe, The Row ? I like Hedi's Celine more than Phoebe, as clean and quiet is what I like, but it can become too extreme.

I really wish I could pull off full Phoebe/The Row looks tho...

@@gobyfish1399 I think the whole point of the row + Phoebe Philo is straying away from heritage, and overall “fashion” and focusing on functionality + quality. Which makes essentially minimalist, and “devoid of meaning” (or at least that’s what these creative directors want them to be) clothing. Now I love these mission statements, since they’re ambitious. But we’ve garnered whole lot of audience who think they’re better. Celine, under Hedi’s creative direction, doesn’t hope to stray away from funness and heritage side of fashion

@@AR-cf9di If someone thinks Phoebe is "better" because she focuses on "non fashion", I would disagree, I think Phoebe is very fashion, in the unusual shapes, fabric textures, subtle details, ( minimalism not quiet luxury ). The Row is more quiet luxury, a very expensive T shirt, basic blouse, etc I feel, some feminists like these 2 brands because they position themselves or the fashion media claims they are anti male gaze, in their austere severity and angularity of shapes, which is very true for The Row more than Phoebe IMO. The adulation is more political than about fashion. God forbid your clothes are fun, colorful, or the most dreaded word - feminine.

I missed Phoebe Philo when she left Celine. Now I will miss Hedi Slimane. He gave us the Celine 16 and so many other great designs. But I am sure the new designer will do just as well. It is Celine, they are fabulous🎉

Phew… so much to say, but I guess to sum it up I’m very grateful for you for showcasing the positive sides of Hedi for Celine 🙏🏼 My thoughts are so conflicted on the wiping of most of Hedi’s work for the brand… on one hand, as an artist I’m proud that hopefully that means he kept his intellectual property separate from the brand contractually (kind of genius to be the one photographing/filming/directing so he can take it all when he leaves); on the other hand, I think the deeper conversation of why the higher ups allow such extreme shifts from their brands based on the creative director 🤯🥵 One day Hedi is the golden child, doubling the annual revenue for Celine, and the next he’s out and the entire branding he created for the company is erased??? No one has ever done it as seamlessly as Bottega, and in my opinion, the deeper conversation of artist compensation and ego needs to be addressed in the conversation of luxury musical chairs 🥴

Such good points!! I truly think BV is a lesson for these luxury houses on how to do creative transitions🙌 Celine already feels so messy and its been a week lol😑💔

I find those new creative director that delete all old era contents when they start are just straight up disrespectful an arrogant behavior. Those are part of the brand lacacy and history and they just wipe them off, just because. Maybe is hedi karma, He disrespect Phebee contents when he first started Celine, now other disrespect his too. His lacacy and history are just nothing, noone will remember.

Plus I'd bet thousands Celine keeps the brand and clothing direction left by Slimane for some time. Similar to how YSL only really now it's becoming Vacarello's own. The YSL stores are still black and white marble, the logo is still 'Saint Laurent Paris' even now and the clothing was Hedi-light until at earliest 2020. Wiping the existing work, when we all know they will not be changing direction anytime soon, just seems so pointless and borderline disrespectful.

I watch the old shows and look at the campaigns religiously. I'm so bumped that everything was deleted. Did someone manage to save everything before it got deleted? Would they be generous enough to share it please?

I feel like Hedi has a look that anyone who misses him will certainly find it where he goes. I never got into his YSL stuff or Celine, and I think it boils down to him having the same signature where he goes. His clothes at Celine look very similar to his clothes at YSL... Hedi basically carries that everywhere. I never understand the acclaim he has but maybe I'm missing something.

Loved his YSL so no complaints here. I think it's a signature style that he owns and does it best. Thank you for watching❤

Wiping the KZbin before the new designer is even close to showing (or even creating) any new work just seems gratuitous / excessive.

Very interesting, thank you. Chanel menswear would be such a risk and/or opportunity, make or break, THE fork in the road. I guess Slimane might then *not* be at Chanel (which is what I've otherwise been convinced was the inevitable apex, non plus ultra destination given Slimane's trajectory). To be honest, I like the idea...drumroll...of keeping Chanel exclusively as womenswear. (But OMG, the possibility of Slimane's take on Chanel 1920s).

Yeah I just don't see Hedi going to a brand where he can't do menswear. Maybe he does "unisex" looks but I feel he would want to do a whole line. Thank you for watching❤❤❤

Hi Mary, I know how you loved him at Celine😳 lol I never really care for his designs. I was so consumed with Chanel, so I just this year, realised that Old Celine is so much more me😳 I had a few dresses , but never really was so into it, which I regret. I think his designs are more men cuts, meaning if one has hourglass figure, it’s just not great fit. Also I really love Old Celine, and I bought a lot, is still so many pieces I want, and then Prada , some pieces, that I like as much… so interesting to see new Celine direction. Maybe I will love it, who knows 🤔😜 I wanted to ask you about Phoebe. You got that shirt with white insert right ? How does it fit ? Is it oversized? I was looking for simple long turtleneck or top , to wear over fringe skirt. I want very dress down look, and not sweater. I can’t find anywhere😳 well I am looking at Phoebe, between the one you have, and also there is new turtleneck one, all black , but it’s shorter 3’ 😔 Not sure how it fits also 🤔 Thank you Mary and have a blessed day 🙏❤️

I do think my style evolution continues to move forward to the PP-style and I totally understand why me liking Hedi doesn't make sense. But I think part of it is I like something for lack of a better term edgy but French-chic and his Celine was always that. My style icons have always been the MK&A Olsen and Jane Birkin, and his Celine always captured that relaxed but chic-vibe. I've always loved Chanel, and still has the biggest presence in my handbag collection, but I feel it's too stuffy/put-together and I think with Hedi-Celine it felt a little more chill, rocknroll but French chic and that is what I want from Chanel. I know, not the best explanation, and I know I'm an oddball for feeling this way, and it shouldn't make sense🙃 I should probably just stick with PP now. I do think the new direction will be more in line with Old Celine, Michael Rider was with Phoebe for 10 years, but I think there will be an American preppy touch. Hopefully it all works out🙏 Are you talking about the cream/black V-neck turtleneck? It fits oversized, but I love it that way. So far her RTW I've tried is oversized for the better. Thank you so much for watching Giedre❤❤❤

Hedi erased the past at Saint Laurent, erased the past at Celine and so, it only make sense for Celine to move on from him. BTW, i think it has to do with his intellectual property and the use of his work for commercial purpose. It's very very hard to find official sources of his work at Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche, Dior Homme, Saint Laurent and the same will happen with Celine. He must have his personal archives. He should do a book of his work or an exhibition. Celine will change all the visuals, much like Dior Homme evolved when he left. Concerning his time at Celine, i think Spring Summer 2025 is his best collection ever at Celine and maybe his best womenswear collection ever. Then, i put Fall Winter 2019 and then Spring Summer 2020. The rest is good but i hated his TikTok era. My only complain about his time at Celine was the obnoxious "CELINE" merch. I wish he pushed more the sulky (that he explored periodically) than the triomphe. Overall, it was a good tenure. I don't know if i want him to do 10K menswear jacket at Chanel. I think Menswear at Chanel should remain small, much like what Karl did: selected pieces for selected stores.

Was so fed up going into a Celine and all the SA would pump the line about Hedi and the logo etc…completely wipe their hands off PP. I don’t think it’s necessary. So really not bothered they are wiping Hedi. I go into Celine to browse / shop irrespective the ‘cult’ of the house designer

Celine! Bitter? When they go low, Celine goes lower with the rats! It's rude. They should be thankful no matter how his departure went down. Or maybe it's in the fine print Heidi signed with his blood before his debut? The guy is A private person, was or is he the bitchy demanding designer higher ups pay regardless so tills ring in boutiques? Heidi is driving brands he's the key but at this point Celine is the dead body he put in the trunk. 🤷 That man is money 🤑💰. BUT SERIOUSLY! CHANEL MENSWEAR! SHHHH 🤫🤫🤫 SECRETS! IVE LITERALLY BEEN WAITING MY WHOLE LIFE FOR THIS!
