I have a Stanley I beam broke a claw was replaced under warranty, is nice, after obtain a ESTWING can feel a quality difference, upon driving a post in the ground tried a 32oz Ball peen it mangled in few hits, switched to my ESTWING a 22oz framing hammer it did less damage to the small garden post drove the post in further per strike, it would swing faster hit harder with less damage.

With the Estwings ensure the one you purchase has the face milled squarely. Place the face against a straight edge and verify the handle is parallel to the edge.

That is a nice VAUG-HAN hammer. I also like the STAH-NLAY hammer and the HOO-SKEYE too.

I didn't see an electrician's hammer. Aside from electricians hitting everything with their Lineman's pliers, electrician's hammers have a longer nose to reach into junction boxes and such. thanks for all the videos.

Vaughn is top of the line

They are indeed pretty nice tools although I tend to lean towards estwing as far as ultimate long-term durability

I got a Vaughan that’s patterned off the Douglas style hammers. That’s my only wood handled hammer. I use estwings otherwise. I have the 16oz claw, 22oz framer with straight claw, and the ultra which I think is a 19oz. I’ve been toying with the Idea of buying an MTC M-1 titanium but i just don’t drive enough nails with a hammer to justify the cost to myself. If I’m running a lot of nails I just use a nail gun.

Estwing are just that bit better in my own opinion . I'm using my dad's 20oz that's 50 years old . I am like he was a Carpenter/joiner and it is used every day and still works perfectly .

Thanks for the experienced info. FYI, not to be too critical, Vaughn is pronounced "Von".

I've recently purchase hammers with larger heads (not heavier). Some years ago, I was doing a bit of construction and the elbow was giving me trouble so I had some control issues such that a larger head would have really helped, IMO. The elbow is good now though I am not pounding nails. That said I use large rubber mallet these days ;-)

Is the leverage coefficient of a lighter titanium hammer relevant to the initial force required for the swing to drive the nail in?
@CatusMaximus6 жыл бұрын
Titanium hammers really do work pretty well when driving lighter object such as framing Nails velocity means more than Mass when driving lighter objects however if you're driving large Nails like large spikes then you need more momentum and a heavier steel hammer. Also I've heard if you're someone who is very good at hammering and can drive nails in one or two hits that the titanium ones don't work quite as well as a long handle steel hammer.

..for general use, I prefer a traditional claw hammer to a straight-claw hammer, more leverage for pulling nails, less damage to your head/body in the event of a miss-lick drawing back (ever happen to anyone else?)....

Yes that could hurt

I use a ball-peen all day everyday at my welding job. Been using an estwing for a few years now and I use a Vaughan at home in my shop. The Vaughan is a better hammer. The forging and grinding to shape the head is just done better.

...for durability, I prefer Estwing hands down...for balance and feel, I am a Vaughn steel or fiberglass handle guy...I like the feel of wooden handles, but they frustrate the heck out of me, break more easily if you yank on them pulling out stubborn nails, but mostly because they get loose on the handles due to the wood contracting and expanding.....don't really care for any of the weird-looking "innovative" high-tech claw hammers.....

Dude, you dissed Vaughan and can't even pronounce the name correctly? Get real. Vaughan makes some of the best hammers in the world. Based on the appearance it doesn't look like u do too much carpentry.
