These "don't do's" are great! As a woman in my 60s, I find the key to aging beautifully is to soften your look and Risa's shared some terrific ways of doing that. Nothing is more aging than harsh makeup. Continue to use the types of makeup you enjoy, but blend more, choose different shades, learn new techniques, etc. Treat your skin well and always apply a good sunscreen. And most importantly, smile!! It makes all the difference in how you look AND feel! ♥️

Confession time: I happened to look at some photos of myself taken in my early 30s (I'll be 49 in a few months) and afterwards I felt "depressed" for the entire day. I've always had hooded eyes but I had so much more space between my eyes and my brows when I was 30. Also, I had fuller hair, less lines... For full disclosure, I think I look good for my age, maybe I even look a little younger than my age. But looking at those photos was a sad eye-opener. No pun intended (hooded eyes... eye-opener, you know?). Ok, onwards with the video now.

I love your hooded eye techniques. Been doing that for a while now. I also have an additional challenge doing my hooded eyes...about 8 years ago, had a BCC removed from the top part of the bridge of my nose, and was closed up with the flap technique. That involved cutting an aggressive margin, and the skin on the left eye pulled over a little more to suture. The scar is pretty much invisible. My left eye is more hooded than the right. It is like having 2 different eyelids on the same face. I have learned how to compensate and adjust my eyeshadow technique. It is pretty goofy doing 2 complete different eyes on one face. When I'm done, no one would really notice after I was done.

I have tried them in the past and got so irritated and quit. But I am retired now and I decided since I battled cancer last year, and have a lot of time on my hands, I would give them another try. I hope to see all the doctors and nurses and fellow patients and show them I really DO have eyelashes and brows. Mine are as blonde as my hair, and i was so sick thru all of that, make up was not a priority. I use to never leave the house without at least my eye make up on... but at that point, I didn't care! I wore them without a tutorial last weekend and only with sheer luck, got them on good. lol But today was "no ma'am" , it wasn't happening! I'm so glad I found you! I got some great tips from you and I feel much more confident about doing my eyes!! God Bless, Risa.

I have large eyes, but as I am aging I find that the lid is dropping and I have learned from you how to make that OK. When it comes to makeup I apply everyday no matter if I am leaving the house or not. If I am going somewhere I do a little more detailed eye work . I have gotten a lot of compliments on my makeup which makes me feel really great not that I am the big 80 ! People usually think I am in my 60’s which I will gladly accept and say Thank You. The only thing I got from Covid was white hair and in the beginning I had mixed feelings about that, but it is white not a gray, so I went for it! I wear it in a bob and get many compliments on my hair. I feel some of my friends wouldn’t think of putting any makeup on their face so i always ask them if they wear sunscreen, and the answer is usually no. Since I have had 2 pre cancer spots on my face that isn’t a choice, and I just continue on with the rest of my makeup. Sorry this is so long but I feel there are a lot of women who don’t like their looks as they age and think there isn’t anything they can do to look better, so I am here to preach GO FOR IT! You can always wash your face if you need to start over after all it’s just makeup! Thanks 😊

I needed a firm reminder, my 20yr old daughter has been bugging me for almost 2 years... do your brows!!! Past 2 years I have learned and slowly getting better with makeup (and started a good skincare routine)... but for some reason I just don't do my brows. I had Sephora do my makeup and they said I have nice shaped/brows but also said... do them as it does make a difference. That was a few months ago (for my 50th, it was a big treat) and I have not yet. I also needed to hear about using smaller brushes (I have hooded eyes as well) and think that will be helpful with eyeshadow. I never have used liquid eyeliner, or wings as never could get hang of. Thank you for making it ok that I cannot. False lashes... really!?!?! I feel that is more of a young thing, I have such short straight lashes even mascara sometimes does not help but I have found some better mascara recently. Next: maybe I will try a half lash or full lash as my eyes do turn down. I will seriously look into brows and lashes... thank you! ❤

I just keep telling the universe I’m still 22. ( : Very helpful suggestions. Castor oil made my lashes grow like crazy and quickly and I hardly need mascara (a beauty guru called no mascara her editorial look which I love) but am ready to experiment with it. One KZbinr swears the ZIIP lifted his eyes and it looks like they did and nicely. I think I’m going to start trying magnetic quarter lashes just to be kind to them. I’m a big believer in decline not being inevitable but an option. People are looking younger all the time. 🦋🌸✨

Can’t wait for the false lashes video. I’m 49 and have always wanted to use the half lash, tried and failed with a set a while ago and gave up. Love luve your eye make up and lashes on this post❤

Thank you for these tips! I had no idea that brush size would make such a difference. I pulled out my smaller brushes today and if really helped. Thank you!

Yes so true! I’m 46 and always had hooded eyes too and I realized that I haven’t done the cat eye liner in about 4 years! It just doesn’t look right anymore it’s too heavy! It used to look so good on me but now it’s just no good anymore

I honestly do pay attention to all parts of videos such as these. I don't like to just pseudo-listen while busy with something else. I'm here to learn something I'm interested in and have really enjoyed your video!

I got my eyebrows microbladed, best money i ever spent! My mum (75) had no eyebrows left from plucking waxing and aging - she went and got here microbladed too - they make such a difference!

Can't wait to see your in depth false lashes video. One thing I notice about a lot of you tuber makeup videos is that they would look good with no makeup because their lashes are very long. Most of them are younger than I am but it's the one consistent thing I notice. I've recently tried some Ardel Wispies and two things I've experienced: 1. My eyes look to heavy on the top because my lower lashes are short so the balance is way off 2. The removal of the lashes and glue is daunting and I cannot where them to bed because I wake up and they are smushed together. I'd love your thoughts on magnetic lashes and maybe some suggestions of shorter more natural looking lashes that don't hit my glasses when I blink..as always, thank you for your knowledge and testing results you do..

Great video Risa! Please be very very careful and do your homework if you decide to get a bleproplasty at any point. My sister had one last year. Yes, insurance paid because it was supposedly affecting her vision. She, unfortunately, got a botched job. She now has 2 completely different sized eyes. She also now has such dry eyes she can barely open them. I know this isn’t the case for everyone, but I’d think long and hard before I did it.

I'll be 38 this August and I have noticed my hooded eyes becoming a little more hooded and downturned- I clicked so fast on this video, just to have these tips to start using. I really enjoy your channel, your make up looks are beautiful and your tutorials are great!

If they tell you that you do not have put it dies that just tells you how extremely good you are at what you do. The other point I wanted to make is that when people take a really light almost whitish product and put it on the top by the eyebrow that’s all you see and brings it forward. I see a lot of make up artist doing that then all you see is the hood even more. I’ve seen professional artist do that. You do it just right and I’ve learned so much thank you

I really appreciate your videos. I’m 38 and on the way to care more about eye makeup. I totally agree with your points about eye makeup for hooded gals. You don’t have to make claims for those people who don’t have/need to watch the video or not benefit from it. If someone feels it not apply to them just hit the next button and leave. Don’t have to watch and being ruled. Happy new year 🎊 waiting for more great videos from your channel.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I stopped wearing eye make up because I have hooded eye lids. Your tips are very helpful and I'm going to try to wear eye make again. I'm not so sure about false lashes, it's intimidating. Thank you again for your tips!!!

Risa, u are gorgeous!! I like your honesty about being blunt and telling us what is good and what isn’t good. Thank you so much. Love the green sweater on you. And I used to follow you, I stopped following you but then I watched you again today and said I need to follow her again. You haven’t aged whatsoever! Great video

Happy Holidays Risa to you and your family. I love watching your videos not only for a bit of added joy in my day but I always learn something from you despite me loving and doing makeup most of my 52 years of life. Well I started playing with my moms makeup around 8. I couldn’t wear it until 12. Thank you for all your tips with hooded and aging eyes. ❤️

Risa! Amazing tips. I’m with you and false eye lashes; I love them. I followed your suggestion about letting the glue dry for 30 seconds, and it made such a difference. And yes, practice makes perfect! Keep sharing your knowledge and tips. Your fan from Toronto

I love Lissa she change the way I felt about makeup at my age 40. But I love the way she wears makeup less is more. And honestly I think she is amazing and honest. And the fact that she is white complex is amazing 👏 😍
