Its games like these that make me regret knowing them when i was a young immature kid. I never got the message of these game, how incredible and just badass they were. I saw fast car and i said "oh cool racing game". I skipped the message of the game entirely: What it feels to be a professional racer. I'm happy that at least the soundtrack stayed with me.

Heh, same here. I was 9 when this game came out and I thought the same way. I’m 19 now and I think I understand the message this game tries to give. Racing is gritty, and there’s no way to avoid it. The driver needs to maintain pressure during a race, despite watching other drivers crash which can potentially kill them whilst going extremely fast, avoiding contact with other drivers. We as kids would never get that, all we cared about the racing, not the message behind it.
