I like the way this one looks. The Kickstarter says you can buy 2 boxes and play with up to 8 people (they'll change the meeple color for the second box). Do you think that would work well? We often play with 5-6 people and I'd love to add another great game we can play together.

What is downtime and player analysis-paralysis like when there are many units of one type on the board? The player has to make a decision for each unit and take-backs must be common. I guess it's not too bad in your case if you can get through a game in about 2 hours.

I was already thinking of adding some home rules for warfare. I love the world building and trade mechanic. At least it uses coins. :)

I'm very excited for this one. I wouldn't mind a more aggressive module as well, but the low conflict level is highly appealing as well (and how I would likely play it most of the time if a high conflict module was also available).

That sounds like a trap to me. And a bit of a Kickstarter red flag in general.

@@helxis What are your kickstarter red flags and why? I don't think this game is good at 8 players at all. Imagine sitting on a table playing this with 6-8 players. I feel like at that playercount you are better off playing other games. There are plenty games that provide a better experience at that player count. Survive escape from atlantis, evolution climate, Sphere of Influence and so forth.

@@Nozdormu1982 I try to avoid Kickstarter at all. In almost every case, if a game is good, it will be widely available later and can often be had for far less money when on sale. Or, better, buy it used. Save your Kickstarter dollars for little indie publishers that are trying to actually get up and running. Don't use it as a pre-order system for established companies. But other red flags.. Kickstarter exclusive content. Tons of minis. Anything from CMON. Not showing any rules or actual game play. Etc.

What purpose does freezing out a card serve in terms of game mechanisms, game flow? Secondarily, is there a thematic reason for it?

The author explained it in a French video (un monde de jeux). He thinks that a civilisation which is going all the way on one thing would put so much energy on this one that one of the other would become bad and so disapear... And then you will put some ressources to take it back (si develop it again) In term of mechanism it obliges you to keep an eye on other players to know when you will have to lose one card and try not to lose them all with no coins in order to be able to take them back... If you have no card left This is a case of instant defeat
