Say if a person buys 10 shares of Tata motors ltd. It means he has the ownership rights upto 10 share. You make profit by buying a share at a certain price and selling it in the future at a higher price. A price of the share is determined by the demand and supply for that particular share. You can invest in shares by opening a demat account through brokerage firms such as zerodha, 5paisa, grow, icici securities etc. Shares are now dematerialised and are traded online. I'm a CA student so I had the basic knowledge pretty early in my life. I suggest you learn the basics first before getting into securities market. What I mentioned is not even the tip of the iceberg. Take your time and do watch CNBC tv18 it helps to get an idea. Thank you.
