In response to the elderly man question whether China's model is exportable? China is not out to export its ideologies. Its objective is to trade and become prosperous. It is up to countries themselves to adopt whatever political systems they want. The notion of spreading democracy is often used as an excuse for war rather than reason.

The gentleman seating at the right is the most knowledgeable among the 4 panelists. China's system of governance exportable? No. Each country has to find its own suitable system of governance taking account its historical, cultural background and social needs. China wants to be a regional Hegemon? I don't think so. It wants to be left alone to develop the country according to plan so that Chinese people, who had suffered much during the past 2 centuries, have a better life. The idea that universal suffrage is good for all countries in the world has been proven to a fallacy.

Nuno pereira is confusing Russia with America's stooges in the Middle East. In 2019 52,2% of Russia's exports were Gas and Oil. Saudi Arabia's oil and gas and oil related products represent more than 95%. Roughly the same for the Gulf Countries.

@@matcha1693 According to the latest statistics, Russia has for the first time overtaken Germany's GDP PPP
@josealbinosantosnogueira6013
@josealbinosantosnogueira6013 3 жыл бұрын
@@matcha1693 Germany's GDP is much larger than Russia's (3 times larger, actually) but its GDP PPP is more or less the same with, like I stated in my previous comment, slightly bigger on the part of Russia for the first time. GDP PPP per capita in Germany, however, was in 2019 a bitter higher than 53,000 USD whilst Russia's was hardly above 27 thousand, meaning that the average German's purchasing power is double the average Russian's.

Deng's quote: "Feel the stone to get through the river." Don't be afraid of making mistakes, focus on the target. "Black or white, as long as it can catch mouse, it's a good cat". Show me the results! "Signal left turn right". Talk noble communism, while practice capitalism, and call it initial stage of communism. "Let a few get rich first." Trickle down economy theory way before Ronald Reagan.

you think a state planned economy using window guidance policy is capitalism? This is too simplistic understanding of Deng "opening up" (typical in IR thought). He copied the Japanese high growth post-war socialist model, established a large decentralised banking system and allowed certain FDI with all the caveats to his command.

Asean is a joke. It neither has a military alliance like NATO nor an econmic alliance like EU to deal with external hegemony. Leaving each member negotiating its relationships on its own terms. It policy of non interference and neutrality leaves all states venerable, rendering its Asean unity meaningless in dealing with external threats. e.g. did Asean send a coalition of forces to enforce its Spratly Island claims? Or was there an economic sanction imposed on Chinese encroachment? Asean can't even provide relief function for its own members, let alone manage big superpowers e.g. And during the displacement of Rohingyas, was there an Asean initiative to provide humanitarian aid like food , water and shelter.

Asean is just a mean to provide diplomatic platform, create more regional integration and free trade zone. So it does exactly it mean to do. So It isn't joke. It is not created to become another EU or NATO.
