I once heard Bumblebee and this movie being compared to the newer xmen movies in terms of continuity and I think that's the best current example of what's happening here. As someone who grew up loving the bay films and still holds alot of nostalgia and genuine love for much of what those films introduced... if this isn't a reboot I might actually scream.

Man it hurts how accurate that is. Being compared to the X-Men movie continuity is not something you wanna hear, those movies were SCREWED in terms of continuity. I'd hate to see another franchise I love go down the same path, but in a way it already has. The Bay movies had some messed up continuity too (though never to THIS degree of disconnect).

Okay, so about the hole. According to some set photos (and The Fire Brothers), the hole is supposed to be the entrance to the “Maximal Caves”, which will lead to their hideout. Not sure if this is true or not but it does put a wrench in the whole “Unicron being Earth thing” and also helping to explain why the Maximals have been able to hide out for so long. Not sure how some of the bigger ones will be able to fit inside, but maybe there are other holes in other places. Also imo while I think the Unicron scenes are a flashback, I don’t think they’re a flashback from billions of years ago. I think the planet that was destroyed in the scene was Eukaris, or whatever they want to call the Maximal homeworld. That whole speech at the beginning about how “After centuries- the darkness has found us” could be referring to the Terrorcons as symbols of the coming of Unicron. Have hope PE, in all it can be…

Damn. I admit I didn't follow the news about this movie closely at first so that's why I had no idea at first they were wanting to do 2 movies which they then decided to condense into 2. I'm a Beast Wars fan first and foremost and will admit it's very nostalgic and heartwarming that after all these years my favorite childhood characters get their chance at the big screen but we all know what happens in any movie with multiple characters. Inevitably, most of them are just there to fill in the background while only a couple take the spotlight. With three Terrorcons (4 if you count Freezer) there's a chance to actually flesh out the villains in ways the previous movies did not but the balance goes through the window with both Autobots AND Maximals in there.

That's exactly my Worry. Like everything that's been announced for the characters Revolves around the G1 Guys. Arcee and Wheeljack are in a relationship, Mirage is Befriending Noah, and convincing Optimus to actually care about humans, Bumblebee is getting injured and rebuilt. Meanwhile we have NOTHING for the Beast Characters other than they are there. I'm half expecting Rhinox to get no lines what so ever. Hopefully the bad guys get some attention, but based on these trailers they wont. Shatter And Dropkick had lines in their trailers, we've heard Scourge once.

About Unicron shots I think than it is beginning of the movie where Unicron attacks "Beast planet" that looks like endless mountain jungles with glowing energy in the ground (basically techno-organic Cybertron from Beast Machines ending). That's how Scourge could get Maximals and Predacons logos as trophy: he just went massacre everyone while his master munching on their planet Maybe we'll get something similar to "Cybertron scene" from BB movie but with Beast Wars characters trying to escape from Unicron's hunger

Well here’s the thing after bumblebee released and was a success, Paramount and the producers were confused at either continuing Transformers 6 or a Bumblebee 2, from there they started writing scripts so Paramount could pick one a script, I think they cared about the new Transformers movie because it was originally going to be released in June in 2022. In my opinion it’s just a trailer so we gotta wait till the actual movie comes out.

So, there are theories about why all production staff says it's not a reboot. Mostly that Scourge is Bayverse Prime after being reformatted by Unicron and being sent to a different universe. He is a long nose truck like Bayverse and was able to telegraph Bumblebee's moves without looking at him. I think it's stupid, but those are some of the theories floating around.

I've seen that theory. I'd say that the most likely option is just that they reused aspects of the old prime because it's a way to save on costs in the design process, but it would be an interesting direction to take it.

I will definitely say it is an exciting trailer. I’m still gonna keep my expectations down and neutral until the movie comes, but there was definitely a lot I liked. I giggled like a kid in a candy/toy shop when I first saw that shot of Unicron. I will say that it does look like the action scenes might be the best they’ve ever been in a live action Transformers movie. So they might have learned from Bumblebee in that regard. I’ll also say that while Battletrap hooking onto Nightbird in order to turn around and fire on the Autobots might not make logical sense, it is nice to see the villains properly working off each other like the Autobots tend to do; in the sense of sort of combo moves instead of just straight up shooting at or punching the Autobots in unison. Now for the Unicron being Earth thing, what I have to say about that is that the MacGuffin for the movie, from everything we have heard, are the TransWarp keys. In Beast Wars, TransWarp devices are what they used for travel and it’s how they all ended up back in time, and in ROTB the Terrorcons are trying to hunt down the keys. That more so suggests they’re trying to bring Unicron to Earth, but we’ll see what happens. We also don’t know if the Maximals could have had anything to defeat Unicron the first time around and potentially bury him deep in the Earth, so there is that. However I’m surprised you didn’t give your initial thoughts on the casting choices for the new animated Cybertron prequel coming out next year. Did you want to wait until more was learned about the movie, or did you not hear the announcement from the Cinemacon news?

I like the idea of the Villains Working together, but doing it like that was just so over the top it was silly. My boi, I know Transwarp's Role in Beast Wars, you know I know. This is more like they are Cribbing Cybertron's homework with the Cyber Planet Keys. Honestly I just didn't go into it, because 1 I didn't know about it when I was writing it, but if I did I still wouldn't have because nothing about it strikes me as interesting. Outside of Scarlet Johansen being completely incompetent as an actor who has 0.05 emotional range, none of them frustrate me in any way.

I'm really excited for this movie for a couple reasons. One, Unicron has an actual voice actor. Awesome, he isn't just a plot device like TLK where he did jackshit for the entire thing and nothing else. He will at least have an actual voice meaning he'll at least be a character. Plus, we see in the trailer that he just consumes a random planet that ISN'T Earth, meaning that he can't be Earth. In fact, that's probably what the Transwarp Key is for from the SS toys descriptions, because the Terrorcons are probably trying to transport him to Earth. 2: The fact that The Maximals ALL have voice actors. Thats awesome. A little worried about Rhinox from the leaks AND the fact they revealed Cheetor's voice actor so late, but I can look past all of it. 3: Optimus face is modelled after Peter Cullen. Now THIS is just plain awesome, i dont care HOW uncanny it is. However, it's the movie AFTER THIS is what concerns me. The fact that Chris Hemsworth is being Optimus is Transformers One is THE BIGGEST RED FLAG IN EXISTENCE. Just from that alone, I feel like Transformers One is going to have Earthspark levels of animation for an over 10 million dollar budget movie with characters that are going to try to be serious but turn out to be boring like how Seige turned out. And that will be awful.

I actually really like Unicron as the Earth because of the plot potential. Humans being related to the planet eater (whether as creations or just by accident) is just cool, and it would give a good reason for why Decepticons hate humans and Autobots might be wary of us - it would be like finding a planet full of demons from a Cybertronian perspective. See I see it the exact opposite way. I hate it because it has no plot potential. If Unicron is Earth then he can't ever actually show up in the serries, because that would destroy Earth and there's no way they do that. So at best the plot of the movie will revolve around keeping him sleeping.

To be honest, I don't understand Hasbro's tactics. The company itself admits that they really need the success of this film, but they hire not the most experienced director, a studio that used to make good graphics, but not robots, and with all this there is no marketing? Marketing means a lot, and they have an example of "Bumblebee", which was not a big box office success. These were even average results. I personally remember that I found out about the existence of the film 3 months later, although even in our country previous films were advertised on TV, had stands and posters. And sequels, an animated trilogy and an animated series depend on this film and its success. I can understand that they wanted to use the previous special effects studio on another project, but ROTB was also postponed. How long have both projects been in development at all? It seems that they hope that the fans themselves will do all the advertising for them, but how they are going to lure the mass audience is a question.

I think there are several factors at play here. 1 Michael Bay and Loenzo De Boneventura, both have a lot of Sway at Paramount, and Hasbro doesn't own Paramount. So they get to be put on the project and there's not much Hasbro can do. 2 I think the feel like Bay made us a Billion Dollars once, surely that wasn't a Fluke(Spoilers it was.) 3 I think the lack of marketing comes down to, they might not know how. If the movie is Fundamentally Broken in production, they may have a REMARKABLE amount of Unusable material for trailers. Things with Unfinished VFX, or stuff that tips their hands too much.

On the topic of Wheeljack's design, I made an analogy on Twitter the other day that it feels like giving Deadpool a comic-accurate look and then deciding to change him in the sequel to make him look like Baraka-Pool and say it still looks like him because he still has that jester eyes. The same is happening with Urkeltron here with how his ears are deployed, was it just that hard to just keep his original design. Also, his arms look like cones then his shoulders, and his entire body is a disproportionate mess. I doubt Michael Bay has much creative decision over this, he is just a producer but that is not saying much since he produced Bumblebee and he had very little input in that film except maybe giving Travis Knight some advice on how to film stuff in live action since this was his first time directing a film in live action. This is no doubt just Lorenzo Di Bonaventura being unable to just let the Bayverse go. At this point, they should just fire the guy and replace him with someone else more competent, they need to give us a James Gunn/Kevin Feige type for the TF movies. My biggest worry is where the other Autobots are, where are Ironhide, Brawn, and Ratchet? Did they kill them all off-screen, hope not since that would be stupid, my guess is that the Autobots are scattered across Earth since they lost faith in Optimus or they are in the movie and will remain in America while Optimus and the gang are out there fighting the Terrorcons. Also, I doubt the planet that Unicron appears over is actually Earth but rather Eukaris, the planet the Maximals are from. Steven Caple Jr said himself that the Maximals are from another planet and not from the future but didn't specify which planet but it's clear that the Maximals are from Eukaris.

That's a Very Apt Analogy. Well again, this is a director with a much less stable position. It's very possible that Bay tried to exorcise control of Knight, that he just ignored. Caple Jr. does not have the luxury to do that if he want's to keep working. If I had to make a guess, I'd assume that most of the other Autobots we should expect to see wont get any mention what so ever. Indeed it's probably going that direction.

How does the autobots having kicker jones armor make the movie look closer to a reboot than Unicron not being shown as earth? The logic of Unicron becoming earth to fit in the bay continuity take more logical leeps than the autobots not giving humans the armor used by Noah. Also, the scropinocs aren't terrorcons. In an interview, the director said that they had been keeping the preds underwraps, while Lorenzo said that scorpinoc was the first one we would see. This doesn't mean that the Predacons are gonna be the ACTUAL big bad, just that they probably gonna get a Cameo at least, with scopronic specifically being a pred. I am actually more excited to see the aftermath of the movie if it is good. Like how will this movie effect how characters like Mirage, Wheeljack, and arcee are portrayed. I mean, the bay movies mad Optimus more stoic and change Bumblebee's altmode to a Camero or camero like car. Lastly, what is you opinion on the new animated transformers origin movie that's comming next year. I think Unicron has the Predacons having saved them before he destroyed their home planet the Maximals escaped from. He is using Scorponok as an army, but when Scourge is killed, I think well see him put the main Predacons into play(Megatron and his crew). Probably an end credits scene. Theres alot going on with this movie, and I heard it was a mess, but the test screenings indicate its actually good. They've streamlined it. My only question is what are they going to do with the Decepticons? I hope they bring them in at some point, but Im excited to see the Predacons get some shine as villains, since we had 6 movies of Decepticons. Overall, Im excited to see this movie.

Another point for it not being a reboot is how the alt mode changes work. Look at the designs for both Shatter and Dropkick, even though their vehicle parts change with their alt mode, the general body shape and appearance stay the same. This is also true with all the others from Knightverse, Optimus, Bumblebee, and Arcee. The one real outlier I see here is Urklejack, but that could be explained by damage somehow. Given these rules for Transformation, it is impossible for the Autobots we see in ROTB to be the ones from the 2007 movie, unless they are all mangled apart and put back together by toddler H. R. Giger.

I think it’s very important to keep in mind that Steven Capella Jr. is he’s not a terrible choice. They could’ve hired a cheap no name director that they could’ve done whatever they wanted with. Instead they hired a director that made a good sequel to a movie that didn’t have the original director. While not being the same situation it’s a very similar scenario to not having Travis Knight for this movie. Is Steven the ideal choice, heck no. Your on the money that Bay and Travis make sense. But Steven doesn’t make soulless movies, he has experience making movies with well written characters and a good story, so hopefully this movie has those qualities. Now I also agree that this movie is doing too much. Although I wanna debunk the idea that unicron is earth. I’m 100% sure they are not doing that idea. From what I can grasp from the trailers Unicron ate the maximals homeworld. So unless the maximals managed to escape Unicron by living on him, and if they wanna some how explain time travel in this movie then it’s gonna be even more packed. Also as someone who is Peruvian, loved in Peru and visited many sites like Machu Picchu, the thing on the ground that looks like unicron is accurate to what Aztec/Mayans built. So yeah it might look like unicron but I doubt that’s what it’s trying to be

If this does well, perhaps Lorenzo will finally take the hint (and if he doesn’t, Hasbro should just remove him from the position of producer) and just let the next movie commit to doing a new continuity. Megatron comes to Earth (or if they want to keep a very loose tie to the Bayverse, have him get rescued by the other Cons at the start of the next movie), we continue building up the Unicron subplot, and we work to build up the Autobot cast (hopefully we get Bulkhead and Ratchet in the next movie).

After seeing the 2nd trailer I was mostly hyped. I didn't expect unicron and they finally faithfully depicted him from the G1 design and not how they did it from TLK. (I'm just saying I'm glad they took a source material seriously). But some minor issues, the first shot with optimus and primal were quite rough, and some of the voices were weird. With optimus it sounds more like an AI and hearing airrazor for the first time was odd. Other than that I also pray this movie doesn't suck.

I have a feeling they picked who they picked to direct this movie not because he was new and inexperienced, which allows the studio to boss him around, but because he was diverse. We saw this with the Marvel Eternals movie, where they picked a diverse director with only 1 project to their name to direct the movie, and it ended up turning out like shit. Also, I like Michelle Yeoh, but her as Airazor? I honestly would have picked someone else, especially with how that line came out of Airazor’s mouth. It almost makes me think the studio intentionally made her deliver her airazor lines with her own accent so that way they could try and force in some weird diversity points. Also, I like Ron Perlman as much as the next Hellboy fan, but I definitely wouldn’t have picked him as Optimus Primal. If I had control over the casting I would have picked Garry Chalk. If I also had control over the script, I definitely would have also altered the lines to fit Garry Chalk more too. Now, while I’m also peeved that they picked Liza Koshy to do the voice of Arcee in this movie, it’s not just because I’m mad that they didn’t use Grey DeLisle. It’s just because I don’t really like Liza Koshy, her sense of humor is just so obnoxious and over the top.

Here's the thing, I don't agree with that, because like all things with this movie they aren't really advertising it. I know Normies, and even entry level transformers fans, who don't even know there is a new Transformers movie getting made. You wouldn't stunt hire the director and then not make people aware of it. The only people who have any clue who the director is people like us who were going to see the movie anyway. I agree about Michelle Yeoh. It's always a risky preposition to case a regular actor as a voice actor as they are two related but different Disciplines, but then casting one whom English is not their first language, means that their range will be further hampered, as they won't be familiar with the voicing styles of their secondary language, so they default back to reading the lines with only their regular voice, which is what we heard from her. I would have cast Gary as well, he deserves the respect, and the Paycheck. I have never seen Liza Koshy in anything. I can not comment.

Steven Caple Jr. confirmed that this is still the Bayverse. I love the Bayverse, but this removes several story opportunities, such as potential character deaths, and even character appearances. I know this is gonna sound stupid at first but please hear me, I think that Michael Bay has changed a little bit as a director/producer, he was one of the producers of the bumblebee movie and the movie turned out great, and when they asked Knight about how was cooperation with him, he answered by saying : "Bay's words were : This is going to be your movie, your stuff, and I will follow your orders etc".
