Mentira deslavada.

Ravenna was the capital city of Western Roman Empire at that time. Defence of Rome was weak. Alaric the Goth King actually didnt want to sack Rome. He only wanted the Emperor Honorius to give him the land he had promised. He wanted the land because his people needed a new land to survive . This was not an invasion. He surrounded Rome for months. When diplomacy failed, Alaric sacked Rome. Roman citizens gathered in a Cathedral. He could have killed them all if he wanted but he didnt. Alaric was not a barbarian. The Sack of Rome was completely fault of Emperor Honorius. Edit: The cathedral where Roman citizens gathered, St. Peter Cathedral on the Vatican hill. Result of Flavius Constantius's diplomacy, the Goths were settled in the Garonne Valley between Toulouse and Bordeaux. @@henricoz_9745 Greeks and Romans called everyone as barbarian or nomad. For example ''nomad'' in english word came from ''nomades'' in classical Greek. Herodotus called Scythians as ''Androphagi (like cannibal or man-eater)'' and ''nomades''. According to Herodotus, Scythians were a strange, disorderly, barbarian society that ate raw meat. 300 years before Herodotus, Homer wrote Odyssey. In Odyssey, Polyphemus and Cyclopes were nomades,ate raw meat and they were blind to the blessings of civilization(Cyclopes had one eye). Roman Historian Ammianus Marcellinus wrote about Huns and Goths in early 390 AD. Ammianus Marcellinus told the same story that Herodotus and Homer told. Those who told the history influenced each other. But there is only real history.

I am sure many people, but especially Italians, look back upon this "Era of Barbarian Invasions" with shame and sorrow. But in Germany, the history students are taught to think of the same century as "The great migration of many peoples. Time and corrupt ambition destroyed Rome. After Augustus, the notion of becoming the sole ruler of the empire was irresistible, even to local governors and town nobles who were prepared to swear allegiance elsewhere to remove their rivals. This only made the empire look more fractured and susceptible to the kinds of enemies they once established complete dominance over. With political division and constant tribal incursions becoming more frequent, the economic flexibility of the empire degraded, resources were harder to keep hold of, farms and border villages were too easily set upon to replenish nearby Roman cities. But the true end came when the Eastern half of the empire was prepared to sever any and all alliances to the already disputed Western command. They splintered and got picked clean over decades. Corruption ended up destroying the empire like it does with every other superpower in history. Ming dynasty, Mongol dynasty, Byzantine empire, Anglo Saxons, Ottomans, Ancirnt Greece, Scandavian kingdoms, Rus Vikings and of course Rome. Every one of them grew to a size where no one power could account for the general aspirations of their own, and ended up disintegrating from infighting.

Of course they admired it, that's they looted the city.Look, Mehmet entered the city of Constantine on the second day of the looting along with his 10000 Janisaries and enforced the muslim rumble he had gathered for the siege to stop immediately the destruction of the city.Accounts want him to be in tears while whispering to his officers, "What a city we delivered to bane and catastrophe", that doesn't mean he did not contributing to the city's destruction, he though later accused the Greek for it by not accepting the initial terms of surrender.The truth is that the Goths admired nothing but themselves, Theoderic who was raised as patrician in Constantinople did not sack anything, he rebuilt.Unfortunately the Goths in Iberia had not the same education but rather the desire for power, so the glorious city if Cordoba became decadent up until the muslims came who weren't others than Berbers, even though they made city an emerald.

I am from India and here History of Rome or Ancient European History isn't taught as it isn't important here. We only studies History of Europe mainly after 1500AD and that still in a limited amount, so soory if I said something wrong or be a matter to laugh and please correct me Can tell me that why historians says that End of Roman Empire=End of Western Roman Empire. How, means Roman Empire ended in 395 AD when Empire divided into 2 East and West and shouldn't Fall of Roman Empire should be on 395 AD rather then 476 AD. Shouldn't it quoted as Fall of Western Roman Empire not Roman Empire as East was also continuation and it falled in 1453 AD and shouldn't Fall of Eastern Empire considered as Fall of Roman Empire

Because it's now a common thinking that the "real" Roman Empire was the western one. In fact, we still call the Eastern one "Byzantine Empire", which is a made-up name invented by English historians in 18th century.
@sinansnn8016
@sinansnn8016 3 жыл бұрын
As you know in Western Part of Roman Empire common language was Latin. Eastern Part of Roman Empire had multi-ethnic origin. Greeks (mostly), Serbs, Bulgars, Armenians,Latins. All these peoples called themselves Romans. Although the official language is Latin, the common language of Eastern Roman was Greek. In early 600 AD, Emperor Heraclius turned the official language of the empire from Latin to Greek. The culture, language, geographical conditions,economic conditions and society's problems of the Eastern Roman Empire were different from those of Western Rome. This resulted in a natural separation between East and West. This Late Antiquity and Medieval Era of Roman Empire called 'Byzantine Empire' by historians. This is how ''Byzantine'' entered historical literature. After Fall of Western Roman Empire 476 AD. Rome's political, administrative, legal successor became the Eastern Roman Empire( Byzantine Empire). So Byzantine Empire or Eastern Roman Empire means ''Roman Empire''. Consequently, the actual fall of the Roman Empire was 1453 AD.

@UCes965KG4ZDlFl5G6uajDJg Exactly. Latin was for Mediterranean what the English is now for the entire world. With the exception that Latin was the official language of a military dictatorship, English is a just a lingua franca imposed by the British Empire first and then by United States

30+ varied historical sources identify the Goths & Getae as same or related. It's a controversial topic but it's more than probable that the Dacians & original Goths mixed together in Dacia after co-existing together for a long time & fighting to drive out the Romans in 271-275. The famous Goth king Alaric was born in Danube delta, which was traditional Getic land, not Germanic. Some of the later Goths even affirmed their Getic/Dacian heritage, like the first kings of Spain. Jordanes also famously writes about this in his Getica, even though most scholars think he was "confused". But the truth is there's too much info to just dismiss the obvious Getae & Goth connection, whatever it may really be. There's a lot that official history doesn't want to teach for political purposes.

i just got a headache of watching +15 minutes of something more confusing than "last episode recaps" of 1 minute each, condensing 10 scenes with no context but a single line written maybe a date... x16 episodes... spanning 150 years What even me knowing the Time period well to the detail and more research done by specialists, can't avoid getting a vertigo and blockage after 1/4 hour of scenes of horsemen and infantry running from one side to another with no N-S E-W orientation Maybe someone thought it will be an improvement on Medieval chronicles with one or two sentences per King ruling decade or whole career, adding some images in the background from tv shows of Xena and other of the kind (maybe Vikings too?) Imagine someone doing this "recap" or "reviewing" of such confusing by itself time on a Sports event as large as a Football (soccer) World Cup weeks, with only set scores lines every few games, and in the back an extended mix of images from different matches, teams you don't recognize uniform colors and even from different decades when they were played since the first one about 100 years ago Would you feel better informed, knowing History of this World cup even by just a single edition with all the back noise added... or be left reeling for an overextended flippant images tatter salad all over confusing even you, who already have seen each match and knew the players and groups scores and odds on real time? WHY 16 minutes of it?????? you could have put the 16 lines together and in the back some Zulu warriors fighting Zombi Roman legionnaires and it would not have made a difference, to know what was happening different from what written... because the scenes where some sort of dramatic effects may be suspected and role characters of living persons were happening, are as filming a crowd in a subway or plane as extras to stand in the back, just generic back NOISE.
