This has always haven't not only in comics but also novels and movies.. Giving a mortal overwhelming power instantly made them corrupted even with his intelligence didn't give him wisdom. Just like in the movie, with his genius intellect, he still made idiotic mistakes, it can be said intelligence ≠ wisdom.
