Rise of the Ronin is crazy because it made me bust out a word I basically _never use_ when it comes to game analysis and critique: Underrated. This game is legitimately underrated, as in, public perception of it doesn't match up with what it actually provides. Give this six months to a year and you're going to see a wave of players and creators being like, "Damn, hold on, this was heat actually, how did we miss this?" Such is life. :P

I'm 30 hours in and this game is still just pure fun. But I'm most surprised by the interesting characters and choices you can make as the story progresses. I did not expect to warm up to certain characters so much and want to build bonds with them regardless of the rewards they offer.

YEP! Ubisoft better bring it with Code Red. Between Ghost of Tsushima and Rise of the Ronin they got their hands full at crafting a dope Japanese assassin game! Ronin especially feels like how Red is supposed to be since it's an RPG. And I just so happened to have created Yasuke for my character. lol The only thing Ronin is really missing is a parkour system and having hooded outfits.

I don't know about that. I have 100 hrs in Rise of Ronin, and 500 hrs in Odyssey and Valhalla each. I dont think they are similar. I absolutely love Japanese settings but Odyssey and Valhalla were amazing. AC Red is gonna be awesome.

Very different. From a glance, its kinda similar but Ronin's combat is harder (Im a casual Souls enjoyer) but once you get into the rhythm, its super satisfying when you defeat an enemy. What I love about Ronin is the loot-drops, character customisation and the multiple weapon types. Ronin gives you a lot of loot. I mean A LOT OF LOOT and you either store it, dissembling it or sell it. I stored Gold Equipment because I want to take one of the effects of the weapon to put it on my favourite weapon. Once you unlock the Long House, you can recreate your character (even change the sex) all without using any items or paying anything. Transmog (to me anyway) is super unique. Armour is divided into sections (head, torso, arm and foot) but in transmogrification, you can take parts from other armour and put into whatever you want. For example, the Western Outfit he briefly wore and the Kimono he wore earlier, you can mix match both of the outfits. So, you can wear the western outfit without the vest and wore the pants from the Kimono outfit or Kimono+pants from Western outfit. Heck, you can just wear the vest without the T-shirt and the pants. Its super cool! I wholeheartedly recommend Rise of the Ronin!

I share the same view in a nutshell that Assassin's Creed Red sales will be in troubles unless they put a massive effort in it. Rise of the Ronin is a great game but the hardware and the graphics are generation 2016-2017. If the combat wasnt so awesome the game would be doomed. I rate it 7.5 and I ll buy it when thr price drops to £40-£45. Yes, good graphics matters in 2024 🤷. That said, if Ubisoft delivers same graphics as AC Valhalla and similar terrible AC conbat and lore then they are doomed. But.... even if the game is good, will the players buy ONE MORE game in Japan? Haven't had enough already? Personal opinion, Ubi will arrive too late in Japan after the Ghost of Tsushima and Rise of the Ronin, and won't sell well. Its a shame that some KZbinrs like BlakWoodz and JorRaptor (known Ubisoft's Reps) discourage the gamers to not buy Rise of the Ronin but save money for Assassin's Creed Red😂, yes, they recommend a game they haven't even seen.

I like that. After Ghost of Tsushima I wanted more. Ubisoft has their head so far up their own ass, so other companies are like "Fine, I'll do it myself". I love the fact that you can use guns. I miss that. I will probably check out the official Japanese Assassin's Creed when/if it comes out. The character customization caught me by surprise since I didn't know it was in the game. I made a dark skinned red head and a blond Asian both are female with heterochromia demon eyes. My characters look a bit out of place here. Your characters look a bit plain. I like the more wild options. Rise of Ronin is clearly a better game than Dragon's Dogma 2. Love the 60 FPS. I prefer the Japanese voice acting. One of your characters looks very similar to another guy you meet later. My character looks very different from everyone. I love the brutal kills. Now all we need is an Old Western Assassin's Creed. So far Zorro The Chronicles is the closest thing I found to that. Red Dead Redemption is heavily focused on guns and doesn't feel like Assassin's Creed.
