"This is so generic." Silverstein helped put post hardcore on the map in the early days of the genre. The reason this sounds so generic is because so many bands copied THEIR sound. Silverstein pretty much invented the "generic" post-hardcore sound.

Just before you comment how this is generic, go Google Silverstein's discography, look how far they date back from when When Broken is Easily Fixed was released or even further back like Summer's Stellar Gaze, come back and then listen to the song and shut up and tell me how they're a generic band when they were probably one of the many bands that helped shape what you dudes call "post-hardcore". Rise should actually be honoured to have them on their roster compared to half the crap metalcore they release nowadays. So many great records under their belts, and hoping this one is no different.

Hope the money still found its way to you guys to support you. Really hoping I catch you at your next show somewhere out here in Southern California. It's annoying that Rise has to go and try to put a monopoly on every band of a similar genre. Like yeah, Silverstein are gods but its the same label as almost any and every fucking metalcore and post-hardcore band of the past decade.

For anyone concerned, when he mentioned "Woodward and Cass" he's referring to streets in Detroit. It's known as a very poor area. There are abandoned buildings there where "tall grass" grows and they always find bodies there from homeless who go there to sleep in the winter and don't wake up. It's a pretty sad area. Anyone else from Detroit here feel free to add :)
@AshleyDeaton12309994 жыл бұрын
Also from the Detroit area. When he says "11 miles from where I was" I always imagine him traveling up the mile roads for some reason.
@nathanantilla57134 жыл бұрын
@@AshleyDeaton1230999 His 'name in lights' is referring to the board outside the Fox Theatre, which is between Woodward and Cass. I've been trying to figure out where it is that was so important that was 11 miles away from the theatre, and the best I could come up with is that there's a bunch of recording studios in Royal Oak. Maybe he's referencing recording their first album, and making concessions for the sake of fame?

People who don't like this clearly have not followed Silverstein from the start. This is like mix between "Rescue" + "Arrivals & Departures" with the last album "This Is How the Wind Shifts" as its back bone. If anything the previous album was the most generic (which I loved) because it blended in with basically every other comb over hair band out there such as Stick To Your Guns. This album is basically pulling back to roots with a more mature tone. So true fans will love it more than the last two albums "This Is How the Wind Shifts" and "Short Songs" cause those albums were basically hardcore influenced with a hint of Silverstein. This is Silverstein with a hint of hardcore. Summing it up once more, if you don't like the current album coming out you are either likely not a true Silverstein fan or have grown closer to hardcore over time and can't go back.
