no one's talking about how beautifully written this song is. Shane must really know what it's like to deal with depression and still have a craving to be successful. i wish this song had come out when i first started college.

+zman 1122 I wonder how Woodward and Cass fits in to the theme of this song? Is there something bad that happened to Shane while he was there, leading to write this song? For me, I think this song describes how anxiety/depression feels like :)

"This is so generic." Silverstein helped put post hardcore on the map in the early days of the genre. The reason this sounds so generic is because so many bands copied THEIR sound. Silverstein pretty much invented the "generic" post-hardcore sound.

Just before you comment how this is generic, go Google Silverstein's discography, look how far they date back from when When Broken is Easily Fixed was released or even further back like Summer's Stellar Gaze, come back and then listen to the song and shut up and tell me how they're a generic band when they were probably one of the many bands that helped shape what you dudes call "post-hardcore". Rise should actually be honoured to have them on their roster compared to half the crap metalcore they release nowadays. So many great records under their belts, and hoping this one is no different.

DAMN Silverstein still rocking it?!?!??! From first album to the newest.... finally a band with some integrity and consistency... Thank you for keep rocking throughout my lifetime! I've supported you guys since day one, actually have bought 4 tickets to two of your different shows and both times had to cancel last second because I couldn't find a ride out to you... Hope the money still found its way to you guys to support you. Really hoping I catch you at your next show somewhere out here in Southern California. Thanks so much for the great music, and never stop the singing AND screaming. I know it takes a lot of work to do, and I appreciate you Silverstein! Awesome instruments too, guys. Amazing work!

It's annoying that Rise has to go and try to put a monopoly on every band of a similar genre. Like yeah, Silverstein are gods but its the same label as almost any and every fucking metalcore and post-hardcore band of the past decade.

I don't want to say you're wrong because you can have your opinion, but everything you said is the opposite of how I feel. This Silverstein song is disappointing, Rise definitely should advertise other bands on their label, it would be a waste not to, and I've never cared for Emarosa but I think their new album is the best music they've ever made.

For anyone concerned, when he mentioned "Woodward and Cass" he's referring to streets in Detroit. It's known as a very poor area. There are abandoned buildings there where "tall grass" grows and they always find bodies there from homeless who go there to sleep in the winter and don't wake up. It's a pretty sad area. Anyone else from Detroit here feel free to add :)

Also from the Detroit area. When he says "11 miles from where I was" I always imagine him traveling up the mile roads for some reason.
@nathanantilla5713
@nathanantilla5713 4 жыл бұрын
@@AshleyDeaton1230999 His 'name in lights' is referring to the board outside the Fox Theatre, which is between Woodward and Cass. I've been trying to figure out where it is that was so important that was 11 miles away from the theatre, and the best I could come up with is that there's a bunch of recording studios in Royal Oak. Maybe he's referencing recording their first album, and making concessions for the sake of fame?

Dear KZbin, I am 21 years old. Have been listening to Silverstein since When Broken Was Easily Fixed. That album dropped in 2003. I have been listening to Silverstein for 12 years in total. I don't give a crap if new kids listen to them. That's just more fans and another generation of a badass band. Stop complaining people. Enjoy the music. If you really knew Silverstein they would see your comments and be extremely disappointed in some fans; you guys know they're like super anti bullying? Yet you have their fans at each others throats because you didn't listen to them when they were underground. Piss off people. Sincerely, A true Silverstein fan.

Silverstein is a living proof that bands don't need to change radically their genre as they grow up. They can still modify many technical components of their music, but the basic musical framework remains the same and still sounds awesome. Silverstein almost never disappoints and although I don't think their last album was their best, I can see that the new one will be way better.

People who don't like this clearly have not followed Silverstein from the start. This is like mix between "Rescue" + "Arrivals & Departures" with the last album "This Is How the Wind Shifts" as its back bone. If anything the previous album was the most generic (which I loved) because it blended in with basically every other comb over hair band out there such as Stick To Your Guns. This album is basically pulling back to roots with a more mature tone. So true fans will love it more than the last two albums "This Is How the Wind Shifts" and "Short Songs" cause those albums were basically hardcore influenced with a hint of Silverstein. This is Silverstein with a hint of hardcore. Summing it up once more, if you don't like the current album coming out you are either likely not a true Silverstein fan or have grown closer to hardcore over time and can't go back.

Silverstein never dissapoints! They have been a band for so many years, and they have never sold out or catered to the mainstream. Pure quality once again!

Dear Silverstein, I love you. I don't understand how people are saying this is generic. Silverstein was at the forefront of this "post-hardcore" movement for years. To me bands tend to sound like Silverstein, rather than Silverstein sounding like the others. These guys have been apart of the scene and my world for years. If your going to hate go elsewhere and leave the real fans here to enjoy the music.

I've seen you 4 times in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Silverstein has maintained their unique value over the years and stayed true to what makes them great, while still progressing in their sound. I love every second of it. Can't wait for the full album.

Dear God I'm glad you guys aren't going for a "new sound" in this album. I've stopped listening to way too many bands because they tried a "new sound" that I didn't like at all. Awesome video + awesome song :3
