@@politicalhcwThing is, they won’t be looking for work in areas with staff shortages, they’ll bring over their dependents, settle into an Asian, African neighbourhood in some major city, become an underclass and work jobs in sectors where their degree or specialty isn’t required, their children will brought up in a place completely bereft of British culture or mores, and they in turn will begin to identify with their ethnicity or pledge allegiance to their own motherlands, which in turn leads to political isolation for these communities at best and tensions and riots at worst, and bare in mind, this isn’t some hypothetical case, this has happened before in this country, places like Bradford, Blackburn, southall etc

The government had to pay the French for this deal. The Albanian are desperate to get their people back, as so many have come to the UK illegally. The new law as outlined has changed. Originally it was much simpler, if you come to the UK by illegal means, you have broken UK law and will be deported and denied UK citizenship forever. This has now been watered down, to basically what already exists. With a requirement to hear the migrants claim to remain in the UK. It must be assumed that this change is because the UK government is too weak to insist that breaking UK border laws is sufficient grounds for deportation, despite the fact that arriving in the UK illegally is a criminal offence. If the first thing an economic migrant does on reaching the UK is to break its laws, then deportation and loss of any chance of citizenship seems very reasonable. Last year over 45000 economic migrants came to the UK. That is equivalent to building a new city to accommodate this population. This is not sustainable for a small island of finite, and dwindling resources.

Who recognises the difference between economic migrants and true asylum seekers. Those entering the UK illegally have broken UK law, and that should make them immediately ineligible for UK citizenship, and to remain in the UK, justifying immediate deportation. Let me guess, you are from the rich liberal elite, who are isolated from the effects of the policies they espouse. Or maybe you are one of the lawyers or NGOs doing very nicely from block the deportation of economic migrants who think the UK is a soft touch.

You do realise that economic migrants are taking resources away from true asylum seekers. The UK has the right to decide who enters the country, and who receives citizenship. The government is correct that the law needs to be changed to immediatly deport those who come to the UK illegally. It's worth note that there are those who come to the UK from a broken country, claiming asylum. But at least some of these played a big part in breaking their own country, as is evident of the war criminals who manage to slip in under the lapse laws that you support. There is also an arrogant level of entitlement that many migrants adopt. Expecting the host culture to adapt to them, rather than the other way around. There are therefore good reasons to be selective about who is allowed into the UK and who is allowed to remain. But the principle objection is simply on numbers, the UK cannot support a increase of population equivalent to a cite each and every year.
