Rishi Sunak is to resign as Conservative Party leader after a catastrophic election defeat to Labour.
The outgoing UK prime minister announced his resignation outside 10 Downing Street in London.
Sunak said he will not resign immediately - only when formal arrangements for a successor have taken place.
Labour won the UK general election in a landslide, with the Conservatives seeing their worst result - in terms of seats - in the party's history.

@@NYCSubwayWorker If that’s the case then it’s not something we should be happy about. The world faces new challenges now and the next 10 years will be crucial. Nationalist governments are corrosive and do our enemy’s work for them delivering things like Brexit in the UK or Donald trump considering pulling out of NATO. You will also be aware of the global shifting of power away from the west resulting in flashpoints like in Israel -Gaza. Russia invasion of Ukraine, North Korea throwing missiles around and China considering an escalation with the USA over Taiwan. The last few decades of total US dominance has at least kept a relatively safe world order. I hope Keir Starmer plays an important part in Europe and globally in brining country’s together for the grater good to preserve democracy and the relatively free way of life we are used to in the West.

Rishi was given one of the worst political handovers in UK history and has left the country in a better way than when came in for sure, it's hard to understand why anyone of his wealth would want to do this in those circumstances but turn the other way and continue to leech this country (and others) like 99% of the wealthy.. Let's see what Labour does now without a plan...

Rishi Sunak was disliked by the white British because he is originally an Indian, a Hindu and a coloured person . The British disliked him so thoroughly because they couldn't digest the fact that they were ruled by a Prime minister originally belonging to a British colony. What made it worse was the fact that he is a billionaire, richer than the king. He couldn't have done better in given circumstances that to for only 20 months

He was trying to do the right thing, which is rasing taxes. Unfortunately his own group did not see it. I dont think this will make any different i Great Britain. The British people have to change their mindset. They did not want to in EU, because of want, they had to pay for the membership. British wants the benefit from being a member of EU, but they do not want to pay. I think it's because Great Britain is a former colony power. They are used to get things for free in the sence they got minerals and other goods from the countries, they had coleniced. They still don't want to pay, and that's their problem.
