Rishi is simply an out of touch individual and politician. It always seeps out when he’s asked impromptu interview questions (I’ve said it before) and this proves it again. The interviewer never said “ban flights”, yet the PM pivots to outrage that the interviewer wants “no one to go on holiday”. Yet if he looked at the governments own statistics he’d know many people can’t even afford a flight to go on a proper holiday and overseas travel is down by 22%. He’s completely disingenuous and I truly hope the electorate sees through him.
@eh1702

The “ban everyone from going on holidays” move was a pathetic strawman, but typical of rightwing rhetoric these days. They are absolutely committed to dishonest rhetoric.
@pault1289
@pault1289 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, he's very reactionary and also thin-skinned. Any question of his choices like this and he gets upset. Hardly the kind of temper you want in a Prime Minister. It's a fair question - and he should be prepared to answer it politely and easily. That he can't, without resorting to some childishly hyperbolic retort, shows us just how bad at politics and leadership he is.
@TheStevenWhiting

Its really fing annoying when they do that. The presentors should get more angree and aggressive and talk over him more defending loudly "I NEVER said ban flights for holidays"
@eh1702
@eh1702 Жыл бұрын
@@TheStevenWhiting That’s part of the reason they say these things: it’s as much of a win as sliding it past the interviewer unchallenged - it puts the interviewer on the defensive and shifts the discussion away from the question and onto who said what. It also personalises it to the interviewer and makes them seem like they’re having a row instead of interviewing.

This might sound like a generalisation but I believe that a lot of his elitism stems partly from Asian culture. As Elitism and the worshipping of the rich is unfortunately too ingrained in the Asian societies. This is especially true if you look at the conservative cabinet. Whilst most Asians still vote for Labour, the most right wing members of the conservative cabinet are Asians. As someone who was born in a South Asian country unfortunately rampant elitism is far too common in these countries. Instead of shedding it, the second-third generation of Asians who have been brought up in the UK have retained it and whilst in positions of power are re introducing old elitist systems that people have fought to overcome for years.

"Flying on a private jet is the most efficient use of my time." No, it isn't. The most efficient use of your time is to stay in your pool and refrain from ruining the country any more. Besides, stopping all flights right now would help a bit but it would not be anywhere near enough to stop global warming, not even to limit it to 2 C. Just ignoring the climate crisis and pretending we could produce something like eco-friendly plane fuel is beyond ridiculous which proves again my first point.

@@Dom-lp8cl My parahrasing of Utah Phillips' anarchist polemic notwithstanding, I'm fully congizant of the fact that human beings are barely a footnote in the history of a planet that has been hostile to life for most of its existence; the point was to infer that in preserving this goldilocks periodfor as long as possible we can literally identify, locate and purge the parasites (a mere 0.0001% of the species) who are determined to make the planet uninhabitable (significantly more hostile, at least) for our grandchildren. I mean, there's around 2,500 billionaires in the world - the first, JD Rockefeller, coming into existence just over a century ago- and they're not even of the same race, faith or culture, ergo it wouldn't even be genocide by UN standards. I'd go further and contend that 'Eat The Rich' is no longer a slogan, it's an existential imperative.

Sunak tried more than once to make an equivalence between him flying to Scotland on a private taxpayer funded jet and holiday makers. He clearly sees his Scottish junket on our tab as a holiday. We need tighter travel expense rules for elected officals wasting our money.

How lazy does one have to be not to take the train to Scotland which takes a little as 2 hours if taking the express train, he can work, have meetings, eat. A far more efficient way would have been taking the Sleeper train up where you do have a cabin with en-suite, get served breakfast and dinner too. Just like central London, he could walk from his house to Parliament which is a 5 minute walk which is quicker and more efficient than taking a car. I mean he could at least buy a cosy coupe for himself lol

Countries are regions
@addermoth
@addermoth Жыл бұрын
@@annoloki Simple research easily found: A region is a geographic area that is defined by certain characteristics, such as climate, culture, language, or history. Regions can be as small as a neighborhood or as large as a continent. The defining characteristics of a region can vary widely, and they can change over time. A country, on the other hand, is a political and geographic area that is governed by a central authority. Countries have defined borders and are recognized by other countries as sovereign entities. Countries can be made up of one or more regions, and they can be further divided into states, provinces, or other administrative regions. Understanding the difference between region and country is important when discussing geography, politics, and culture.
