'06 TSX here, changed the starter, power steering pump, a/c compressor, and even unplugged the bluetooth module last year cuz I thought it might be draining my battery. Turns out it was the starter causing it not to start. It's still unplugged by the way! Overall it's been a nice car that I've owed for 10 years with 182,000 miles currently.

@@RishMedia My AC Comp went out 5 years ago. I decided that since it's not my daily driver I would open the windows. The stock starter lasted me 14 yrs before I had to put in a rebuild. Having to take off the intake manifold was a pain in the ass. But I really don't know where else they could have put it with the engine design.

A proud owner of 2005 TSX. Bought the one that was used as a dealership's test drive vehicle with 28 miles on it. Now, in 2024, it has 255K, so far had to replace a serpentine belt at 140K, engine coils at 170K, alternator at 243K. The very first that went out was the trunk button, then the passenger door actuator, then the driver door actuator (both for remote entry). That's basically it. Hoping with the proper care I'll get another 250K out this car. I also had a used 2006 TSX for my wife, it also had a passenger door actuator issues and a leaking steering actuator. I love this car so much, that I even bought my daughter a 2005 TSX as a first car, manufactured just a month after mine.

'08 TSX owner here. Original owner, bought her in '08 sitting on the showroom floor. She's an auto though. Wish I could go back and rethink that. Unfortunately too, my girl has had a target on her since day one. Hit solid in the front end once, rear ended twice at stop lights, and really hard hit side T-Boned directly at the left front wheel just sitting in a parking lot. She's really suffered from other people hitting her but she's still soldiering on and fortunately with 85K on her now, she's been very dependable. I appreciate your channel. My goal is for her to out live me. So far, so good. A couple back in July offered me $12K cash for her. Their daughter was going off to college in August and needed a car. They saw her sitting at Kroger and when I came out of the store they were admiring her and asked if I'd consider selling her. Keep up the great work.

I have an 04 that has 228 on it and I hope I can make ot last to 300! That's awesome! I don't know though as whomever had ot before me did not do it justice. I've had to do brakes all the way around, two bearings, and now I am havibg a strange intermittent headlight issue. I live in WA so your comment about rust... yep, that could be an issue at some point for me. I have to say it's a relief to hear you mention the 1st - 2nd gear issue because I thought I was losing it! I will have owned this for 2 years on 6/13. I yhink my AC compressor has gone out, and of course that happened on a record day here last year where it hit 108 beginning of June!

I live in Massachusetts where the roads are salted regularly. One major issues that I have found is corrosion damage to the body and panels on the driver's side. If you live in a similar climate take your wheels and fender liners off and check for rust. Also check the pinch weld lift points, ESP. on the front driver's side. It's very common for the entire portion to completely rust out. After a full desalinization I use POR 15 regularly. Your car can be mechanically sound but if the body starts to rot out from underneath you it's a losing battle in the long term.

A problem I struggled with for a long time on my 07 was total power and electrical failure. The car would basically shut off sitting at a red light or electronics would malfunction while driving. I did some research and sometimes this could be related to ECU failure from moisture leaking onto the circuit board causing it to rust. I took mine out and it was fine. Others suggested changing the battery ground cable even if it looks in good condition still. I did so with an OEM one and that seemed to solve the issue. No more problems with that, fingers crossed. Another problem that I am having, which is more of an annoyance, is that during idle with AC on the car vibrates tremendously. That’s the problem I’m currently working. Otherwise, best car I’ve ever owned. Love my TSX 6speed.

Nice things to list, but I generally havent had issues with those parts, until later miles, and if I went aftermarket, I was changing them out again. Always try to go denso with your starters, alternators, and so forth IF possible. Aftermarket axles suck when you get them for a manual. They are not the right size for the driver side. Unsure if it was a tad bit shorter, or longer. Things that should also be listed: HID Ballasts can get water in them or rust, if you live in areas with a lot of rain/snow. I sealed mine better with silicone Clutch pedal cracks causing your clutch to prematurely go out. Door Lock actuators commonly need to be replaced Front Compliance Bushings commonly need to be replaced Climate control lights might go out. Believe it or not, its the headunit/cd player portion that snaps into the back that fixes that. I replaced mine, and Im good. New ones can be found on ebay even. Dome lights dont work with new bulbs even. The switch is the issue. Replace that. Exhaust tips hang uneven. Get new hangers or better ones. I went with polyurethane. Worked perfect for years. Rattle on start up? Its the VTC cam gear. I still have not replaced mine. Hesitation while accelerating? The accelerator sensor most likely is the culprit. Its part number 37971-RBB-003. Sorry for the copy and paste. Driver heated seat not working? Eh. I replaced my seat. Now that one isnt working after 3 years. 😒 And I think thats it. 😂 You covered the rest.

2005 Acura TSX 194k owned since 2009. She looks nearly new still. . Biggest Issue I have is that this car will never die and saves me loads of cash. If i were like some people and got a new car ever 4-7 years, assuming averaging a $500 car payment, I would have spent $84,000 to date on car payments. If we assuming increased cost of insuring a newer vehicle, dealer fees etc were pushing $100,000. Calculate in opportunity cost of not being able to invest that $ were talking $130,000ish. So when I look at my bank account I know that my Acura TSX helped contribute to the number i see 😀. Blackstone lab oil results show that the Engine and Transmission have lots of life left.

@@RishMedia Trans seem just fine to me. Gear shifts are just fine. No noises or anything. No codes whatsoever. vtec hits fine too, haven't noticed anything off there. Again, the strangest thing is that the shaking doesn't happen constantly. It happens only after I've driven 25-30 minutes or longer and then fixes itself after a momentary pause. I have doubts that perhaps one of the brake caliper jams up. But i've also checked the rims whether one side heats up more than the other but nope, nothing like that either. I'm just so frustrated as to what there is that needs fixing. my mechanic said that the trans on these tsx's are "silent killers", and pretty adamant there that the issue lies somewhere there. Any chance the CV axle is doing this? I've never dealt with that before so not sure what to look out for in terms of the axle going bad. Thanks for replying man, really means a lot.

Hmm and it’s oil or power steering if you could tell? The power steering pump itself may be leaking there’s a seal on the inside the can go bad. I seen a leak forming on the pump itself before I changed mine
@darkslayerjl
@darkslayerjl 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if its oil or steering fluid. Its kinda black and grimy. I clean it off and it comes back the same. I looked all around to see if I can find the leak but nothing. I don't want to replace something and that not be the problem
@RishMedia
@RishMedia 3 жыл бұрын
Where do you see the grime where’s it keeping building at? Cause I know the o rings in the line had recalls, only thing I can think of from this info is the pump itself. I know the Vtec solenoids are a common oil leak area but that’s at the top-back of the engine on left side. Don’t thing that’s causing it in the power steering area
@darkslayerjl
@darkslayerjl 3 жыл бұрын
The grime is building up all on top of the alternator and all on the pully with the belt. Its all that area near the pump. So it could be the steering pump? Maybe a small enough leak to be barely noticeable
@RishMedia
@RishMedia 3 жыл бұрын
@@darkslayerjl yeah it’s definitely the pump then man, I just went with a autozone one tbh lol. You definitely don’t want it to keep leaking on the alternator gonna fry that next

my ps pump went out last feb, then my rack and pinion went out last october... then a week later my coils went out, then a week after that my knock sensor went out... lets just say i sold it and got a new crv haha not worth fixing it.

Most of those are easy and just overtime maintenance, the rack and pinion isn’t a fun job for sure though.

My guess either the o rings of the lines to the pump, or one of the hard lines on the rack the flare can get a hairline crack.

The PCB or transistor on your radio that makes your car radio and climate control light up dims and goes dark, which leads the driver having problems adjusting the temp and change the radio due to them not being able to see the information on the radio or climate control section.

Hmm good to know! Have that issue a little bit on my white one with the dimming but not to much. In the black on I just have issue adjusting the volume knob.
