I highly respect what you guys are doing for the animation community as a whole. I personally prefer these tight-budget indie animated shows over the large studio productions. I also really love that your own shows were imagined by lone indie animation creators, like Liam Vickers (man he can pack a lot of lore into one 20-minute video), who you reached out to in hopes of letting their imaginations thrive! I just gotta say, Indie Animation and Indie productions have just been a HUGE source of inspiration for me over the past few months. I like how the indie animation scene is sort of an inversion of the Hollywood/corporate animation business model. Where big-budget films sometimes are produced solely with the intent to market merchandise (think Star Wars/Marvel), in the indie scene the merch only exists to fund the production.

Yess, instead of “let’s create a show to help sell merch” it’s “let’s sell merch to help create a show” And they’re freaking SMART at it too lol. Without giving away spoilers….one of Glitch’s 2 current shows had a character who got killed off and they created a plushy of them ahead of time and a commercial to go with it because they KNEW ppl would be attached to the character and want the plushy after watching that episode

I remember the distinction made on the TV Tropes wiki -- the merchandise is typically derived from the series canon, but if a series is "merchandise-driven", the merchandise *IS* the canon, with the "series" being derived from that. it doesn't necessarily mean the series will end badly -- it really depends on how much source material (and creative freedom) the writers are allowed for making the series.

I really appreciate the culture of collaboration in the indie animation community. Unlike big studios, indie studios support each other instead of viewing one another as a competition. This collaborative approach is rarely seen in larger studios, except in the case of an acquisition, which is more about purchasing than helping.

well, it's a double-edged sword. on the one hand, it would be really cool if GLITCH grew to become a major studio, on the other hand, this could lead to the fact that they themselves get bogged down in this economy and begin to look not at quality, but at sales. today's big companies also once started small, and everyone had a good start, but now their reputation is what it is. Disney themself at first made truly legendary creations, but now their modern cartoons are ranked lower than Internet sketches... I realy hope that GLITCH can make a big name for themselves, but at the same time remain themselves
