The fact that donkey kick is now half circle means that Ryu got his st lk into ca buffer back. Additionally im sure we have all had moments where we got donkey kick instead of a fireball because of negative edge, thats also gone with this input change.

I believe the frame 1 invincible reversals damage increase and increase vmeter gain on CC sweep seem to be system wide changes.

I’m surprised they always seem to flip flop throughout the series on Hadoken speeds, it seems like a pretty useful tool in general. Also I’ve heard that the half circle donkey kick helps reduce input overlap and lets him do something with super

Nah i dont think so. I believe Capcom thought Kage would impress much more that it did and thats the reason there was no big announcement. I like the evolution of Ryu but imho they should have named him Evil Ryu, the impression he made would be much bigger i think. Back to topic: i think the fireball change is a good little buff for ryu plus the extra frame. Still no top tier but he climbes the ladder slowly.

the problem with kage/season 4 reveal was that he was already playable a couple hours before the "reveal" so everyone at the event got spoiled via twitter posts

I believe they should buff more than Nerf...if I dedicate a year on a character and enjoy winning and patch day comes and it's harder to win. All my hard work and time has been wasted as I have a job,wife and kids. So if you buffed the weaker characters I can still play the way I trained to and not reverse muscle memory. Fack you capcom.

I sometimes get Donkey Kick just through movement in neutral due to not having it for 2 seasons already and having to unlearn bad habits. Probably not the reason they did it but I can see me having LESS execution errors now. Not that it matters when you're as garbage as always, but at least there's a reason even if it's not a good one.
